Throttle Cable - Replacement/Repair - HELP

Yahoo Message Number: 22609
I have a 92 Affinity with a Cat 300 Engine.

Last weekend the throttle cable broke. It is an air activated throttle system and the cable is located between the air actuator and the throttle body on the manifold on the engine.
I spoke to Gillig and they tell me the part is no longer available and there is no replacement part. Can anyone help?
If you have any suggestions or recommendation please call me at 888- 898-8508 or e-mail me at performance_coatings@....

Thanks

Daryl Clements

Daryl, the linkage would be very simple for any diesel shop to fabricate. It is a simple mechanical linkage at the point of failure.
I had the same cable break on a BlueBird I used to own. I was stuck on the roadside so I fabricated a new linkage with a series of plastic wire ties. I kept meaning to have a real cable made but I sold that coach, wire ties and all, about 30,000 miles later.

Good luck with your fix.

George ... you're a shade tree mechanic I could really get along with.

After years of my dad owning a farm equipment dealership, you learned to make things work with what you have to work with.

Now ... going back in and fixing it right ... well that could wait until the current crisis passed.

But ... it seemed just to keep working ...

True genius is found more among our types, than all the NASA engineers around.

Sorry if I got a little philosophical their ... now back to those mystery toilet discussions we were having.

Thanks for advice. However I had not had any luck in getting this fixed. Anyother suggestions?
