Plain Jane look

Hi: We bought a 2000 CC Alure. Mechanically is has been great. We have had very little problems with it other than the blow by. From Oregon to S. Ca. we blew out 2 quarts of oil. We had it at Cummins for repair and they had it for a couple of days. It still blows out oil all over the tow vehicle. Had a bubble on the entry door and had to spend a week at the factory to have it replaced. They did a good job matching the paint and it looks like the original door.
The only real complaint I have with CC in the poor quality of interior design. The cheap plastic sink and faucets and shower hose.
We have replaced them with china, solid brass faucets and gold color hose for the shower. This only cost us about $200.00.It sure did make a difference. Also the cheap stainless steel sink in the kitchen area.
The couch in the living is not of high quality and the bedroom coverings are not what I would call first rate. This is a shame to put these items in such an expensive unit. We have looked at other CC's and even the upper scale units do not impress us. We thought about spending the money to try to upgrade more but decided to just trade for an ungraded unit altogether.
We have just purchased a Beaver Marquis. It is a new 2000 with full 1 year warranty from the factory. Now this is high quality. Everything in it is first rate. We looked at an Affinity and considered it.
When we saw the Marquis (for about the same price) there was no comparision.

We think that if CC wants to continue with the high end units that they are going to have to get their act together and do a lot better with the interiors. That cannot continue to live on their mechanical end since there is usually a man and a woman involved in the sale.

Yes, CC does not do as much glitz as Beaver and their attempt to differentiate their models with lesser cost faucets, etc., doesn't make as much difference among some of the models. That makes it a much better "deal" for those buying at the low end of the CC line up. BUT, When you look at the frame, suspension, front end, wall framing, etc., there is no comparison between the two coaches. But that's what makes America great, something for everyone. If you value some of their floor layouts and glitz features more you must buy a Beaver or other Monaco.
It doesn't make one necessarily better, it's just different, base on your values!! Enjoy your new coach and travel safe!!

I agree with you 100%. We had an American Tradition and it was pretty classy compared to our 2001 Intrigue. I sent and email to CC telling them they should put a Monaco interior, conviences and interior in their coaches. CC still does not paint the roof. It's raw gelcoat. Some hot dog president of sales called me back and after a hour of talking to this jerk I gave up.
Next coach will be an American from Fleetwood. They give great service and have a great coach.

We are enjoying our '02 Allure. It is our first "upper end" coach, given that it is CC's entry model we have been real happy with the quality. Ours came with brushed look metal fixtures, metal shower hose and good looking sinks. No complaints here!

Remember you CC fans, anybody can get in this group and say anything they please. I seriously doubt if any of the above crap is true.
I've owned three CCs, an Alure, an Intrugue and a Magna. The Monaco and Beaver coaches are not in the same class as CCs. The quality is not as good and I've never met a happy Monaco owner. They all complain and complain. Beaver coaches are much inferior to CCs for the same price. Nuff said. jerry from NM.

You are correct, anyone can get on this board including competing salesman.
Does Beaver even have a board? And Monaco, after you give them you SS# and coach serial number they "might" let you in so you can complain with the others.

You will love your new Alure, CC does not try to look like the rest of the pack, They try to lead, not follow. While the other companies try to look like french whorehouses CC keeps it plain but well built and the people that buy CC like it that way. I will admit I think the Signature Monoco and the Beaver look great, they are like beautiful women, but it's what's under the skin that counts. That's why Beaver has been sold twice in the past 4 years.
Sure CC has their problems but so do they all, and I hear a lot more bitching about Beaver and Monoco then with CC. When you hear all the problems with Cummins just remember that all the coaches use the same engines so we need to blame the right people and not always put it on CC.
A far as painting the roof, I'm glad CC leaves it as gelcoat. I've had a painted roof coach and the painted roof is much more slippery when you are up there. Happy Trails

I agree with you, at one time I was a VP for Safari East when they purchased and changed Beaver to look like a Safari. I purchased a CC after that because I got tired of going to rallies and hearing all the bitching. At one rally a women got up on a table and yelled at Matt (the owner of Safari) for ten minutes about how bad her Safari was. This was during a seminar to ask questions about the Company. That was the last year Beaver made a good coach.
Safari then began modifying their Magma chassis to air to satisfy the Beaver customer. In my book the Magma chassis will always be a spring chassis modified to look like an air chassis.
I also have never met a satisfied Monaco owner, they all seam to spend lots of time at camp Monaco.

Seeing these comments about CC and Monaco reminds me, I have heard lots of stories about problems with Monaco. I know all coaches can have problems, but at the Perry rally I had to walk down the Monaco caravan row to get to the gate. Don and I were shocked at the number of service stickers on the motorhomes. I bet it was 70% or better. I have no idea what the complaints were, but I did not see as many service requests on any other coaches.
Now, being female, I do agree that Beavers have lovely interiors and interesting floor plans. Very inovative features. I like those a lot, but since I also drive and sometimes by myself, I can't give up the overall quality of the CC.

Our Intrigue is our 4th motorhome and our first CC.

Before we purchased our '02 Intrigue, we looked at and drove the Monaco and the Beaver. The Monaco wallowed all over the road, the Beaver took a country mile to turn around and the 40ft. Patriot with the 300 Cat was a dog. To step up to the Thunder model was another $56K. Sure those two look pretty fancy on the inside but why would you buy Monaco when you can get a Holiday Rambler that looks just like it on the inside? The CC factory was accomidating enough to let us have a '01 color scheme on our interior.

Talked to a gentleman yesterday that owns a Diplomat. He called the factory to get a service appointment this summer. He was told that the summer is reserved for new coaches under warranty, he would have to come up in the winter months. How is that for service?
Anyone can post on the CC BB but you have to give everything but your last two tax returns to the Monaco adminstrator before even getting to read it. Must be hiding something. Surely if Monacos are so great, the BB would be the place to see it.

So, Monaco and Beaver owners, if you can't post anything beneficial here, please post it on your own BB

Our same complaint, too...but we are here in JC and took a factory tour and saw the 2003's coming off the line...lots of changes! They don't have that dowdy look anymore...or at least not as much! I feel that the new designer that they have is finally addressing the interior design and delivering a product that is going to be very competitive with the other coaches on the market. After seeing how the CC's are built, I'm VERY happy with our CC and feel I have a quality product...but we'll start saving for a new Intrigue that will have the new lighting and interiors that are now available! No coach is perfect and we've heard just as many complaints about other manufacturers...to each his own. I love this Intrigue and am happy to call it my home.

Most likely the reason for all of the service request is that monaco provides a complete service team at every rally and they provide most of the service free. I have a 99 magna and my father n law now owns his third dynasty and i am constantly surprised at the amount of free service that they provide.
I believe it is true that they have more flaws when delivered but I have seen first hand that they will do what ever it takes to make the customer happy . I have attended a couple of monaco rallys as an sob with my father n law and several of his friends and this level of service is provided at everyone. They keep trying to get me to switch but I like my magna and I have worked out most of the problems after 3 years and I hate the thought of starting over with a new coach. My wife however agrees with the plain jane comments and has often said why can't cc produce the great floor plans and interiors of the monaco line.

The paint job ( gellcoat ) is superior to anything I have seen. Mine is shades of gray and blue with dark red accents. The change from all the browns used last year is striking. Also, I finally have pull down windshield wipers which were not available in the 97 and 2000 Intrigues I had. Also, the Allure has aluminum bay doors which fit much better than the fiberglass ones on my previous Intrigues. When you shut one of these doors it sounds like a car door.

The change CC has made in slideout design is terrific. I no longer have to get on my belly to get to something in a bay under a slide where I only stored items seldom used. This change allowed me to get the same " stuff " under the coach that I had in the Intrigue despite the tag axle which eliminated a bay.

I do have one bone to pick with the CC designers---The utility bay has no room to store the sewer line except in a tube, thereby eliminating the opportunity to keep a 90 degree fitting on the end of the hose. I'm still trying to figure out a way to overcome this.
As you can probably tell, I'm excited about this new coach. I just hope a year from now I still feel the same.

Good luck with your Beaver, the company has been sold twice since 98. Once to Safari who turned it into a Safari and now in 2001 to Monoco. Some of us like plain coachs, simple but classy. Glitz is only skin deep.

Good luck with the Beaver, I had a Safari when Beaver was purchased by Safari in 98. The coaches were great before Safari got a hold on them, changed them in to a Safari. Then Safari could not make it in 2001 and sold out to Monoco.

I agree that the Beaver looks great inside but the chassie is a modified Safari adapted to air. No where near the quality of CC. I'm not sure what Monoco is going to do with that chassie now that they own Beaver. Bill

Have you not gotten service at a CC rally? We were at the Tucson one and had great service, as did everyone else it seemed. I didn't hear of any unhappy folks there. CC send all their techs to the big rallies (we had our appointment put off at the factory because all the techs would be there.).

The 2003'S are definitely a huge improvement. They have a new designer who has made them very competitive with the competition now.
How many folks "look down" at people who drive Mercedes? That's the auto comparison...anyone with a Nissan has more bells and whistles and design than Mercedes...which would you rather have, though?

Yes, everyone has problems with any coach, but after seeing the factory tour of Monaco..I think we've got the best....in spite of its 2001 "dowdiness."...we'll just have to buy another in a year or two!
