Fridge not cooling enough

Here in Texas we love our Blue Bell Ice Cream, but don't like it to be mushy. Our Dometic fridge freezes water for ice cubes but does not keep the ice cream hard. It also does not keep thing cold in the fridge part. Anyone have any help.

Last summer I had the same problem. I added a 3in., 12volt dc fan just below the cooling coils, that blows air up through them. Made a huge difference. I'm in North Texas right now, outside temp is 99, everything in the freezer is like a brick and the fridge is at 32. In the winter I have to set the temperature to the least cool setting or turn off the fan to keep the fridge above 32.

Do you have a refrig thermometer? If not, you need to get one so you can hang it permanently in view in the frig part. That way, even though you 'feel' like it may not be cooling, you'll really KNOW that it is...or isn't. I always check mine when I open the frig and if it's in the right range, I know I'm OK.

Re: ice cream. I've found that a half gallon of ice cream (sorry, Blue Bell isn't anything compared with Tillamook! ) will keep hard in the UPPER shelf of the freezer part. I lay it on it side, and usually cram other really hard frozen things around it. If I store it on any other shelf, it will be soft.

I DID just have a problem with the refig not cooling on AC, so it could be that. It wouldn't cool down beyond 50 degrees or so. They had to replace an AC Heater in it...now it's fine. So if you can't really cool it enough on AC, try propane and see if there's a diff...if so, you have your answer.

An exterior 100# freezer takes care that....ice ccream is rock hard...and several flavors at that. However, I am a former dairyman.....and ice cream lover....having eaten it all over the country.. ..and I must say that Blue Bell is far superior to most brands....and particularly the ones made in the west. Two for Blue Bell.

I had a 1999 Allure (#30282) for seven years and it never would keep the ice cream real hard either. I found it would keep it hardest if the ice cream were placed immediately below the ice maker tray and often times would get harder when the frig was run on propane for several days. I now have the Norcold in my Intrigue and it keeps the ice cream REAL HARD!

Egon, We had a problem with our fridge not cooling and what it turned out to be was my Wife had accidentally moved the thermostat while cleaning the fridge.
