Here is a heads-up for you having service work done on you engines.
I posted this on the CAT site as well.
I had a CAT authorized service center check for available updates to cure a cold start situation. After plugging into there laptop and looking at the settings I was told that all systems were OK. Shortly after leaving the Cat dealer in Knoxville, the "check transmission" light came on and the tranmission started to shift very hard.
It registered a fault code, 66-34 which related to a communication error between the transmission and the engine. After TWO weeks of being in two (2) different shops and going from the Allison dealer to the Cat dealer and back again, it turns out that "somehow the programming for the transmission" got changed. After all the down time, expense of checking out both systems, around $2000, and the complete frustration of nobody finding the problem, it got fixed in 5 minutes with the right technician. It seems that the "governor type" setting had gotten changed.

The moral of this is, be careful when they plug those laptops into your diagnostic port, there are bugs everywhere.
By the way this is on a 2006 Country Coach with a C-9 and Allison M- 3000 combo.

It will be interesting to see who ultimately pays the bill, currently Country Coach has picked up the tab, but I am sure that they will be looking toward the Cat dealer for re-imbursement.

Good info, thanks ... but you should mention this good tech's name, maybe we could kidnap him (or her) and tie them to a tree somewhere.

Speaking of engine flash upgrades, I got a letter recently telling me that my Cat C13 might have a software issue which might lead to it not starting and not communicating with engine diagnostics devices. Anyone else get this notice, and what is the scoop ???

I guess this entails some tech hooking up a laptop and making a change ... wait ... didn't you just caution us about this ????

I am taking my MH to LD next month for some final fixes ... I will check with them ... if it starts (heh, heh).

BTW, I did some cross checking this pm concerning my Silverleaf readout and my Fluke 336 clamp on amp meter. Not even close.

I think the SL accuracy is questionable, or is way out of calibration.

The MH of my dreams will have not have all of this crap ... but that's a whole 'nother thread.
