Motorhome Insurance

I've been doing some research lately and I think my State Farm coverage on the motorhome is not as good as if I went with someone like RV Alliance.

I have been talking to RV Alliance and Explorer RV, both are very nice and seem to have much the same coverage. Explorer is a little cheaper, but they do a new appraisal every 3 years and RVA will cover your purchase price. I was wondering, does anyone on the list have experience with either one of those companies?

Check the renewal terms on RV Alliance. I've been told that they have no grace period on payments (spelled 0/none). If you travel you may need the 30 grace period that most insurance agencies offer.
Sure, we should all pay all bills on time but sometimes when traveling I would already be in the 30 day grace period by the time I got the invoice.

I carried State Farm Ins. on my motor homes for years until I learned about Progressive bought through The Miller Agency in Oregon. They have people at all the FMCA national rallies. I found the replacement coverage to be attractive after reading in the CCI magazine about a fellow who had his Affinity totalled and replaced with a new one in a matter of a couple of weeks. In order to get favorable rates I took some higher deductibles, but they disappear at a rate of 25% each year. I'm down to 50% of the original deductibles and this was carried over to my new coach this year. I would highly recommend you check with the Millers. They advertise in FMCA magazine.

Try Miller Agency...they are in all the FMCA magazines...they write Progressive...

While I was traveling in Mexico, Progressive cancelled my insurance because I had not received/paid the premium. When I got the mail and called, the wrote another policy. I told them both times that I was a full-timer. A couple of years later I was told that Progressive does not write full-timer coverage--at least not in Texas or Kansas. If you have a large claim and they find out that you are full-time, they will refuse payment. I called RV Alliance and got coverage. Apples to apples comparison on the policy but the premiums were about half.
If you have any interest in traveling in Mexico, not all companies provide coverage. Progressive and RV Alliance do. Foremost does not cover in Mexico.

This is really odd. The quote I got from RV Alliance is using Progressive Insurance Company? What insurance company is yours with?

RV Alliance is a broker for many companies, I understand. My insurance carrier is Royal Sun, or something like that. I did not realize the until someone on another list pointed it out. I guess it has a lot to do with what state you claim as residence,
