What is your engine water temp?

Yahoo Message Number: 26021
I have an 02 CC Allure with 350hp Cummins. My water temp runs at about 210 degrees. It does not seem to go over this but this is with light load and temps in 70-85 degrees. I called my Cummins dealer and he said 210 degrees was normal. My CC literature says it should run at about 195 degrees.

Just wondering what your temps are?

Doug:

How long does it take for your temp's to reach 210? Do you have a Silverleaf reading or off the gauge?.

I have an 06 Inspire that has high coolent temp indications too. It will run just under 220,but has never got any hotter even in the mountains. The radiator fan comes on climbing upgrades and once in a while during hot weather on flat roads.
The speed of the fan is what you should hear and if not, there could be a fan controller problem. Yes, Cat has checked it out and say all is fine. I have changed gadge, sending units ( tested them with boiling water ) and the new set is the same indicated. I have gotten to accept the indications and if it doesn't get hotter we move on. The trans in our coach runs hot also but that is another issue. Our house batteries will go flat in 4 days because of amp draw. CC checked this to be 3.6 amps, even with the door switch off, and when I questioned this their comment was, I'll need to have it plugged in all the time. Well, I installed a manual shut off like on the chassis batt.
That problem is fixed. There is a unit called an echo charger, on your start battery, that may be hooked up wrong or faulty that may cause the drain. I agree with some others, getting it to the factory should be a big help. Good luck!! Ned 2006 Inspire 51677

Mine are about the same, with peaks about 10 degrees higher when climbing 8%+ long grades. It has always run above CC lit. but seems to be 5 to 10 degrees higher now. That and Doris's horrible experience has me spooked - as Jim Spivey says, maybe overspooked.
Think I'll have one of those cold ones!!

My ISL400 runs any where from 188 deg F to about 198, on the silver leaf when I am pulling a long grade with an ambient temp of 90 to 100 deg F. The tranny will be about 200 F.

We have an '06 Allure with the ISL. Engine temp rarely goes much above 200, only hit 210 once. On the other hand the tranny doe sget hotter, typically to about 220. These are based upon the computer rading not the dash which shows a much higher reading for both.

This is interesting. I have a 2006 Allure 470- serial number 31432. I engine temp. is identical to yours and the gauge and computer are real close to being the same. The gauge is not set to really read a third digit like the computer. However my Transmission temp. runs in the 212 to 220 range on the computer, and much lower on the gauge. On the gauge my unit runs below 200. I had only 1200 miles on unit, so I did what I think you should do on a break in and did not run at a constant speed, in fact I did not set the cruise control. Coming home a few weeks ago it was real hot in the desert outside of Las Vegas , but I slowed down and cooled down, about 60 MPH. I checked the transmission oil and it is very clear, and no order. I did not test it, but there is a Transync data on temp. color and life that was published on this site. So far I have concluded that we are not in danger of damaging the unit. You do have to pay attention on grades find the right gear, and be cool. To high a gear with full throttle is an invitation for trouble. In other words slow down, gear down, and back off the throttle. Most importantly do not use cruise control on grades either up or down. Truckers rule "the gear going us is usually the gear going down".
I have said before on this site that we are all getting too excited without looking at the evidence. I can remember pulling a boat with a gas engine. I was going to Lake Powell . I did not gear down nor did I slow down, when I returned my transmission oil looked like my engine oil. I had burnt the oil, and was in danger of damaging my transmission. I know I am not the brightest guy in the park, but once told is usually enough for me.
