Quiet Diesel Cummins Generator

Our generator, with 50 hours on it, in our Allure 2007 has always been hard to start. When the generator has not been run for 24 or so hours, the Silverleaf will not start it with its 9 seconds of cranking -- even with quickly repeated attempts. The GenStart over the door, will start it in about 14 seconds. Once started, the Silverleaf will start it in a few seconds. I thought it might be a high altitude problem, but now that we are in the Palm Springs area, it is still a problem.

Suggestions?

It sounds like a fuel problem where your fuel system is losing its prime after you shut it down and it sets for a while. I have heard of some Onans with a leaky fuel line that attaches to the fuel filter.
There is a small panel under the gen that can be opened to expose the fuel filter. Look at the fuel line going to the filter to see if it is wet or leaking. Try tightening the fittings if it is. Just a thought... Good luck.

I would suspect you have an air leak in the fuel system. When it is off it sucks in air in the fuel line and has to purge it before it can start. Check the fitting for tightness
