Hello every one. We are planning a trip late May to start on Highway 12 just south of Missoula MT to highway 13 and then 95 and 55 to Eagle ID. Has anyone been on this route suggest camping areas and any good fly fishing areas???? After Eagle we are planning to visit Stanley ID has anyone been on higway 21 with a 40 foot and tow??? How about parks and camping in Stanley and where to fly fish there. Any help and thoughts appreciated Thanks Lee 2004 Intrigue 11784 40 foot

Lee,

We haven't been across 12 in ID, but have been down 95 & 55. We skiied this January at Brundage by McCall and Tamarack, near Donnelly. There looked like (all covered with snow when we were there) a beautiful lake with camp sites along Cascade Reservoir, west of Donnelly. The roads are not a probem, just get slowed down before going down Whitebird Hill, and use your jake or Pac brake. Very scenic.
When you leave Eagle, going to Stanley, go up 55 to Banks, and across the "Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway" to 21, then up to Stanley. We did that section in September 2006 with our 36' Magna towing a Tahoe. It was very pretty and should not be a problem for you in the M/H. There are plenty of places to pull over to take in the beauty of the canyon.
After Stanley, we went up to Challis and down 93/26 to Blackfoot.

We didn't have time to stop, buy a license, and fly fish. I would suggest talking to someone in a fly shop for local information.
Usually they are glad to help, and will sell you the flies that are producing fish when you are there.

Depending on where you are headed after Stanley, there is a great Oregon Trail museum in Montpelier, ID. It was closed when we were there on October 2, but a gracious lady in there took us through on a quick private tour.

Good luck (with fishing) the roads are no problem.
