Drapes

Seems that in the past we had some condensation drips from above the windshields that wet our privacy drapes in several places. This caused circles of what we are told is fire retardent. Our attempts at cleaning have only enlarged the discolored areas.

Did you have the drapes "cleaned" at a professional Cleaners? Or did you try to clean/wash them yourself? I hope that a professional cleaners would be able to remove the stains. We've encountered the same condensation prolems with out drages.

When we purchased our 91, the front drapes were very dirty and had some water stains. We had them dry cleaned and the result was a 99% improvement. I was shocked, was already to buy a new set, but the wifes suggestion won out. I'm not sure if our drapes have the same retardent in them as yours, but I was told that dry cleaning would not hurt or damage anything with fire retardent chemicals.

We only cleaned with water and a small amount of bleach. This did lighten the stains but did not remove them completely. We now must decide to live with them as is, or take a chance on pro. dry cleaning. Probably will wait, since this could happen again.

I missed the question about drapes---but saw the answer. Are you talking about water stains?? If so we had them cleaned professionally and stains did not come out.

Had the same thing happen to our old coach. A friend said to get a can of spray Scotchguard and soak the stained area with it, really soak it, just don't spray it and let it dry. Tried it and it worked great.

We have never had a condensation problem in any coach we have ever had. Each new coach gets a cover over the toilet vent and we leave the fan cover up all the time regardless of how cold it gets. We do close it in the summer when it gets very hot and the air is on. We also leave this vent up when we store the unit. The cover stops the fan vent lid about half way up which takes care of any condensation.

Don, 1) in soaking the drapes with Scotchguard do you soak the entire drape or only the area with the stains, 2) my understanding of your post is that you already had the stains and the Scotchguard got rid of the stains, is this correct?

Sorry to tell you - We had similar stains and yes, we took them to a professional dry cleaner who specialized in draperies and they readily told us up front that they doubted the stain would come out. They were correct - Stain remains today.
I am told a new pair of drapes will run you about $300. You can't get just one panel - You have to order both so they will match.
