Re SmarTire

In reference to previous comments on SmarTire. I had SmarTire installed at LazyDays when I purchased my 2000 40ft Allure in Oct 2000. While it worked pretty well most of the time, I was getting a constant red light alert and figured something was not set properly. Also, it often took many miles of driving before my rear inside tire on the passengers side would start reading. While at Camp CC in April, I visited Les Schwab's in Junction City to see if they could fix the problem.
They are very knowledgeable on SmarTire and told me that a) my receiving unit on the dash was unshielded and b) I needed an antenna for it. The shielding is required because of noise it is picking up from the surrounding area and antenna is because it is to long of a distance to properly received the transmitted signals from the rear tires on 40 ft coaches. They sent my unit out on Wednesday to be shielded and modified for connection of an antenna and had it back Friday. Saturday morning they installed it and programed everything correctly. They said that the programming steps have to be followed exactly or some of the setting will not enter and the unit give red alerts. Unfortunately, I was out of warranty and it cost me $118 complete. Money well spent. So, if you think you SmarTire is not working properly, visit Les Schwab. They know what they are doing and if you are still under warranty, CC should pay for it.
