The Japanese Girl and Playboy download on CCO site is definately a Virus. My Norton AntiVirus picked it up and isolated it until I could delete it. Once again do not open this file.

This virus is all over the site, don't open any downloads and you should be OK. Some of the downloads sound interesting, like CC shopping, but I am not opening anything for a while. It looks like someone is putting things on here to ruin the site and keep people away.

Note..... it is not necessarily someone posting to the group. Some viruses distribute themselves by stealing e-mail addresses and sending itself to EVERYONE..... then doing the same from every computer that gets infected. So it might not be aimed at our group.
I will add that the group leader should delete them when they show up rather than leave them to continue to infect any unprotected member.

BUY AN ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM!

In addition to running a good virus protection program AND maintaining CURRENT, UP TO DATE virus signatures, I would also recommend that your Microsoft Internet Explorer (if you use that vs Netscape) have the LATEST security patches installed:

Do a "Help, About" to determine your version:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/q321232/default .asp (make sure you past the whole URL) contains the latest free fixes you can download. It says:

This update eliminates all previously addressed security vulnerabilities, as well as any newly discovered vulnerabilities affecting Internet Explorer. Download now to protect your computer from these vulnerabilities.

For information about these issues, read the associated Microsoft Security Bulletin.

System Requirements
This update applies to:

Internet Explorer 6

Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 1 Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 2 for Windows 2000 and NT

We are comparing many notes, and I will post my results after visiting CC Junction City on Thursday and Friday (June 6th & 7th 2002). What a nice park!).
