Tire pressure sensors and problem

I just received a very expensive lesson that I wish to share with you all. We installed Tire-Safe Guard temperature-pressure sensors in our 8 new tires last November. We have had problems with the system since then. SOme of them work fine, some don't work and some the pressure is very incorrect but the temperature is correct. I just spoke with the manufacturer and guess what--since we installed Equal tire balance powder in each tire it probably has blocked the minute holes in some of the sensors. Now there is no warning label on the sensors nor in their literature or in their packaging. The tire ship never even gave it a thought. So fair warning. They work great, but not with any form of powder in the tires. They will offer to supply new sensors but I have to pay the full price to remove and take apart and clean the inside of all 8 tires. Not gonna happen!

Bill, thanks for the information. I am scheduled to pick up my new coach from CC on November the 9th or 12th and then have the Smart Tire installed at Les Schwab. I will now be on the lookout for this situation.
