Tire Inflation System Revisited

Does anyone have experience with the air pressure booster system sold by Les Schwab? Aside from a little pricey, it seems like a convenient way to inflate our big tires. I believe it weighs about
3-4 lbs. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Jeff,

I saw and bought one at the CC rally this past Aug. Really nice design and quality construction. My only issue now is getting it installed somewhere in my coach.

Does this have to be installed or can you store it in a bay and use when needed?

Thanks.

I'm confident you can use it alone, though I thought it might be easier to use if it were permanently mounted, preferably in that front DS bay. Then I could just hook up an air hose and be good to go.

How does this thing work? I am curious....sounds too good to be true.

Max,

I don't know the physics but it basically takes the coach available 90 psi and raises it to about 150 psi which should be plenty for our tires. It is all mechanical/pneumatic, with no electrical connections. Pretty compact unit, maybe less than 250 cu inches.

Since your a user, I have a question. How long does it take to raise the tire pressure, say 10 pounds. I run 115 in my front tires, any idea how long it would take to go from 105 to 115?

Joe,

I actually have not used it as of yet. I have a large psi air compressor in my garage which I use to check the tires before departing. Since I haven't been on any long trips since this summer, I haven't installed nor used the new in-coach air pressure booster. We were told at the rally this past summer that it would put out ~150 - 160 psi, so I would assume that it would worked like an air compressor putting out that kind of pressure. Anyone else out there who has actual on the road experience with the device? Harry

How long it takes depends on how much pressure over the required amount your supply has. That is, if you are filling to 115# and the source has only 120#, then it will take awhile. If the source has 150#, it will fill much faster.

Actually it's dependant on two things:

Differential pressure
Available flow rate, CFM

Correct, flow rate is determined by differential pressure.
