Inverter shutting down on high temperature.

Yahoo Message Number: 40069
Good afternoon, CC folks,

The 3000-watt Xantrex Prosign inverter is shutting down on high temperature.

The power ventilating modification in the battery compartment was completed about a year and a half ago. From that time until about three weeks ago, I did not experience the high temperature shut down.

The inverter has shut down every day, after a few hours of travel.
The out side temperature range has been 75° to 95°.
The corrective action that I have taken so far has been to clean the installed filter. Still the inverter shut down due to over temperature. Second, I ran for a day without the filter and it functioned until the end of the day. I checked the small fan in the top of that compartment and it seems to be operational. Now, I believe I have no further ideas for corrective action.

I have also checked postings under the subject of inverter and discovered other coach owner's are having the same problem. What I was wondering has anybody engineered a do it yourself solution for this problem? It seems to me that part of the answer, or maybe the whole answer, would be to increase the exhaust flow of air. How do we accomplish that? Cut a hole in the bay door and install a dryer vent?

I would appreciate your thoughts in solving this ongoing problem.

I had a recall on my '06 Allure concerning the inverter. It involved putting two round pipes under the inverter (Beaudry used square metal tubes) to get air circulation under the inverter and prevent a fire from the inverter getting too hot. I had this recall done at the pre-rally in Tucson and have just returned to Texas from a 5 week trip to St, Charles, MO, Amana Colony CCI pre-rally, and then the FMCA in St. Paul. When I got back into Kansas enroute to Texas, the temperatures outside were in the 100's. Not once did I experience an inverter problem. Rod5206, 06 Allure, 31409.

Hi,

There is a fan on or in the inverter itself... Is it running? Is sounds like it has failed..
