High Speed Fan Blows Dust

Does anyone know if Country Coach has a recall for this problem? My cooling fan runs at high speed constantly no matter what the temperature or driving conditions. When I start up in an RV park and pull out it blows dust all over everything because it creates a large cloud of dust. This is very embarrassing to me and very annoying to anyone who happens to be along my path out of the campground. I have had people come up to me as I was pulling out and ask me why I am doing that. They think I am doing it on purpose. I sure would like to have a fix for this problem. When I brought it up to my service tech, he said all Country Coaches do that. Do they?

Appreciate help in solving this problem.

I don't know if the 2000 is the same as my 2002 but I would check the fan controller fuse. If it is blown the fan defaults to high speed. Also, the defroster turns on the A/C compressor which puts the fan at medium speed.
Beyond that there are temp sensors that might need checking.

The response that CC's do that might not be accurate.

There are many emails on this subject on this newsgroup. Go to messages section and search for fan speed dust.
My problem was solved by hydraulic orifice removal but mine is a hydraulic motor and apparently others are electric-driven with another fix. I would say strongly no it is not happening in all Country Coaches. Look at the posts here and if you have an hydraulic system and want further info I would be happy to provide what I have learned. Also, a call to CC service in Junction City will most likely give you good results.

Ray, I had a 2000 Intrigue with the same problem. Buddy Gregg in Dallas changed out everything ( sensors, controller, even the fan motor) all to no avail. Finally someone at CC figured out they had received a batch of controllers that were programmed incorrectly. They replaced the controller again and the fan worked properly. One thing you should know is that it will always operate at full speed if the dash A/C is on. On my new coach I try to remember if on gravel/dust to turn off the A/C. You might want to check and see if your coach also has the misprogrammed controller. My 2000 Intrigue was #10941.

I have checked that connector and it is ok. I just wish that I had been more assertive while my coach was still under warranty so that I wouldn't have to pay for all the troubleshooting that will be done when I get into a service center later this winter after I head south. I have spoken with Junction City several times to no avail. I will try again when I get to the service center to see if they have any late info on my particular model.

Hi Ray,

I am a do-it-your-selfer. The electrical wiring diagrams are good provided by CC. Tracing down interconnects can be helpful in diagosing this problem. It's either the Danfoss fan controller or interconnects. The wiring foldout is very helpful for me which is provided on one of the looseleaf binders.

I believe there was a recall on some units for fan programing but I'm not sure which models. We sometimes have this problem but it is solved by turning off the a/c when we enter or leave a campground. With the A/c on the fans are programed to go on and run at a higher speed.

Ray, it might be worth your while to talk to Kevin Kiscouan at CC in JC. He should still be familiar with the ordeal they went thru with my 2000 Intrigue. I got the idea mine was the first they had the runaway problem with and I believe they learned form it.

Check out the Photos section for the test instructions for the fan controller. Or go to my original posting at http://www.suncitykid.com/allurefan/. This might only apply to 2002. On mine, they found a reversed wire, causing it to be in fault state all the time, hence wide open.

As one of my posts indicates, my Allure went from the reportedly noisiest and dustiest to the reportedly quietiest. Fixed in May 2002
