tire pressure on inspire

I was looking at getting a crossfire system for my rear duals and needed to confirm the tire pressure. I looked at the scale weight provided by country coach and it shows 5100 lb for the front and 4857 on each rear. I then checked the toyo inflation chart and the way i read i would want a pressure of 85 lbs. When i checked the current pressure its at 110 all around. Now i am concerned with ordering a crossfire since i need to specify within 5 lbs the desireed pressure. Can you guys tell me what pressures your running or think i should be running? Thanks

When our coach was new and we went to a Toyo dealer he nearly blew a gasket at the suggestion of 85 pounds. He claimed you should never run less than 100.
After nearly 40,000 miles I run my rear tires at whatever the max pressure is for dual tires, 100 for the Toyos we had on delivery. As our tires recently went past 5 years and one had some damage I replaced all 6 with new Firestones and they are fine. Seem quieter and smoother than the Toyos. They were about the same price as new Toyos and the set was hundreds less than Michelin or Good Year.
I ran 110 with the Toyos and they were wearing perfectly. The Firestones are rated to run 120 so that's what I use.
I use the Crossfires as well. Love them except when the tire tech broke one using a HUGE impact wrenchhe couldn't handle and then tried to blame me! They replaced it eventually.
With so much weight on the back of my Inspire, and yours is about the same, I would never run a low pressure. 'Tis better to be over inflated than underinflated.

Jist FWIW, I was told by Crossfire that the equalizing function of the Crossfire works no matter what pressure you decide to put in your tires. So, if you have a 100 PSI Crossfire and you put 110 PSI in your tires, the equalizing function between the two tires still works however, the visual PSI indication (yello, black, red) will be out of wack. But you can verify the PSI with a gage.

Having checked with a gauge each color change is worth exactly 10psi. So within that range you can also determine pressure visually.

Thanks for the help guys. I quess where i am confused is the placard in the rv states 120lb front and back and with a weight of around 5000 per tire it seems the pressure of 120 sould be high. On the other hand the listed pressure on toyos sit of 85 sounds light. The counrt coach manual states to use both the manufactures chart and there lable but there is where my conflict is.I have a note in to toyo so perhaps they can give me some info.

Hi Rod,

What everyone is missing is that you need to weigh at least each axle of the coach. To be more accurate, you need to weigh each tire on each axle. Go with the max weighted tire on that axle. Then go to the tire manufacturer's tire pressure chart to see the recommended cold tire pressure for that tire and axle weight. For all practical purposes, the placard lists the minimum, maximum cold pressure for a fully loaded axle, as long as you do not exceed the max cold tire pressure stamped on the rim. One also needs to take into consideration the max cold tire pressure stamped on the tire. Different tire sizes and tire manufacturers rate the cold tire pressure different according to the plies in the tire. Now I guess you are really confused.

I recently found that increasing the front tires to 120 psi improved my steering issue. According to the Toyo charts and the actual weight of my front end, they are overinflated.

I carry 110 in the rear.

I can't detect any rougher ride or noise difference with the higher pressures.
(For liability purposes, CC specified max allowable pressure, i.e. 120 psi, all around. Think Firestone/Explorer.)

I'm on my second set of Toyo's. I run 120 in front and 115 in back.

It will be interesting to see what Toyo tells you since they had a falling out with CC a few year ago and no longer recommend their tires on CC products. There are so many legal issues with tires these days it is difficult to get a real world answer from the companies.
After many years and many tires: know the coach weights, preferably all 4 corners. I run the pressures that work for me and my usage but NEVER lower than recommended. Until replaced I ran 120 front and 110 rear in my Toyos. These are the max recommended on the sidewalls as I recall, 120 single, 110 dual installations. Both are higher than specified but the coach handled better and the wear was even.
That is the bottom line. As high a pressure as is necessary for safety and even wear.

Toyo sent me an email indicating i should contact a local dealer for advise and they didnt have any information on country coach. At 110 the tires look good so i think i will run as is and hold off on the crossfire system untill i get a few more trips in. As stated by others the weight would be the deciding factor which is 5100 lbs.
