GE Advantium 120 Oven Goes Black

Hi Group:

Tonight I cooked a dish in the oven at 450 degrees for about 15 minutes. At the end of the time, the oven went off as usual and then went black. No buttons work, the clock is not lit and I cannot get anything to reset. We have checked the GFI, totally reset the electric at the post and plugged something else into the oven plug above (it works) to try to trouble-shoot the problem. I called GE and she had me try a few suggestions which did not accomplish anything so she suggested I call a technician. Has anyone had this problem? If so, did you find a solution or did you call a technician?

Yes Shirley I have had same prob. There is a temp fuse in the unit that blows. You will need a technician, also make sure the oven light works, that's a whole other story.

Had the identical problem. Christy's Appliances here in Tucson replaced fuse $100 service call at the MH.

Shirley- even tho GE says no user serviceable parts inside, they lie like dogs in the dirt. There is an internal temp fuse, and some other space junk that may need service. Here is a thread on iRV2.com discussing it: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f104/ge-advantium-10601.html I was able to use the part# info there & order spares to carry along. You can disassemble the oven per that thread to find the fuse & check it, and if that's it, order the fuse on line. Click the last link in the thread for some extra exploded parts diagram links that will be helpful.

Did you check to make sure you have power at the recepticle the oven is plugged into? If there is no power at the recepticle, check for a breaker tripped at the inverter. I am not sure how your coach circuit is wired, but on many coaches, the oven is powered through one side of the inverter and one of the breakers on it.
