Natchez Trace Trail

We will be traveling to Tennessee in October and plan to drive the Natchez trace from Tupelo to Natchez. We will have friends with us who will stay in a motel each night, and we will stay in an RV park. Has anyone done this? Can you give us some tips about good parks, nearby motels, specific sites we should not miss, restaurants, etc.
