Red light above bedroom TV

There?s a small red light above the television in the bedroom of my 1997 Allure. The red light lights up when I turn on the TV.
The red light is connected via wire to a small box behind the TV, which says ?INJ84 INJECTOR?. The wire from the red light connects onto a connection on the little box labeled ?IR RCVR?. The coax cable coming from the front of the motorhome screws onto a connection on the little box labeled ?INPUT? while another coax cable goes from the box to the TV from a connection labeled ?TV?. A small wire goes from a transformer plugged into a 110V outlet and connects to the small box at a connection labeled ?+12V?.
In the front left compartment above the steering wheel where the electronics wiring is located, there?s a long wire that looks like an antenna wire that has too little red lights on the end of the wires that light up only when the red light is on above the bedroom TV. I think it?s plugged into a box in that front compartment, but I haven?t really examined it.
Can someone tell me about the function of this mechanism and its purpose? I just replaced the old bedroom TV with a flat screen TV and would like to not have that red light hooked up in the bedroom because I don?t think it?s telling me anything ... but perhaps that?s because I?m missing something? Would simply disconnecting the red light from the little box have any negative impact? If I don?t connect that light, can I also disconnect the antenna wire with red lights located in the upper front left compartment? Thanks!

Harv, the system you are describing is an IR remote extender. What it is supposed to do is allow you to control your electronics in the front from the rear of the coach. This allows you to use the VCR in the front on the bedroom TV. It sounds like yours has failed.
The little red buds in the front are IR repeaters that would be attached to the controlled device. They would be right over or very close to the IR receiver on the device.
If you don't wish to have the red light just unhook the setup in the bedroom and there will be no more light.
