Squeaky Front Door

Our front door has been driving us nuts for some time now. When wet or damp its worse and when dry sometimes ok.
Has anyone had the same problem and adjusted successfully? Any hints on procedure?

On our '06 Allure they (at the CC factory before they shut down) trimmed a little of the plastic between the windshield and the door frame which helped...just a little.

We lubed the seals on the door which helped...just a little.
We got the problem to "go away" by placing a single layer of electrical tape over the door catch (metal post that the door latches onto).

Just needs to be replaced every so often.

I have an 07 Allure and had the same problem. Found out you realy have to slam it to have it shut properly. Something about new design to cut down noise.

Doug,

We had the same problem with the front door and screen on our Allure #31466 (13 coaches after yours). Squeaks mostly when damp or wet. Tried lubricating the door seal, etc. But my wife found that the rubber bumper at the bottom of the door that touches the screen door apparently was the cause. She put a small piece of the loop side (soft, non-hook side) of sticky velcro tape on the head of the bumper, where it touches the screen door, and the noise stopped!!!! A sticky felt pad would probably work too, Don't know why, but it worked for us. Maybe it just caused the screen door to flex differently when closed.

Herb, funny I stumbled onto the exact same fix, heck of rattle, then found the tip on my door was gone. Replaced it like you did no rattle, go figure?

Larry that is what I thought. But look down on the door lower right. You will find that rubber tip. I think it is two parts. The top of my tip fell off. Rattle was loud. Replaced tip, rattle went away. Why, I think the tip puts pressure on the system when closed, and thus reduces the rattle. Now I do not have to slam door. I also found that the rubber seal in the interieor of the windshield has to be firming in place also. In the corner by the entry door, my seal had come completely loose. Glued and pressed rubber in and new rattle went away.

And that is my rattle story for today. Hope it helps.

We have a 2000 Intrigue and the front door squeak drove me crazy too. First I tried putting cardboard wedges between the door jamb and screen while we were driving. As we drove I would move the wedges to where the squeak stopped. When I stopped I put duct taped on the metal keeper where the magnet hold the screen to the door. I think the magnet rubs the keeper and creates a squeak. I hope this ends your squeaky door and ours too.

I found that the Rubber Gasket on the screen door was under size and did not make contact with the door frame. I replace it with Rubber Gasket - 3/4" D-Shaped Gasket from AWDirect Part#THG4. Fixed the screen door gaps.

Larry, Jim, Herb, John & Bob thanks for the ideas. When it warms up I will look into each idea.
