Turbocharger

The turbo charger has been loose three different times. The first two were discovered while performing other service work. The third time it allowed hot exhaust gasses to blow on the coolant hose connected to the turbo. The hose melted, blowing coolant all over the engine and the hot turbo.
1. Has anyone else had this loose turbo problem?
2. Any suggested solutions?
 I pulled over immediately as the steam cloud coming from the back of the motor home was huge.    CoachNet could not find anybody within 100 miles to come and repair the coach. Their second solution was to tow us to Cummins in Amarillo, which was about 100 miles. The first wrecker arrived and said he could not tow us because the back end would drag when he hoisted the front. The 2nd wrecker worked for about two hours and quit saying he could not tow us either. This was after damaging the front fiberglass lower cap, bending the exhaust pipe on the generator, and causing a misalignment between the upper and lower portions of the coach front. The morning of the 3rd day, CoachNet said they were sending a flat bed trailer from Kansas to haul us to Kansas. Bdfgy that time I had discovered the split in the coolant hose, so we found a mechanic about 40 miles away who was willing to come to our aid. If you are near Dalhart, TX call Lance at 806/244-0369 for minor repairs. He is very capable and reasonable.

Bob I have an 06 Allure 31432. What happened to me was the coolant hoses come over the engine on top of he alternator. The hose rubbed there and then finally ruptured and I lost my coolant in the same fashion you have discribed. After I did a road repair,(see coolant tape) to took my coach to Colton Truck. Not only did we put a bracket over the alternator to hold the hose, we also put a plastic hose guard in that area.
I have had many issues with this coach, so keep in touch I am sure I have had in happen to me.

Jim,

Had your problem last July in front of John Davis's house. We were there for the PTO fix. He did a similiar repair.

Hi Jim S,

I am getting ready to replace my 3/8" ID radiator coolant hose to our turbo. I got a silicone hose from NAPA part number H-500 at $11.88 a foot. Holds up a lot better. Be careful of the type hose you use. If it is not for antifreeze coolant rated, It will self destruct.
