Transfer switch on 2006 Allure 430

Hello again,

Does anyone know where the transfer switch is located in a 2006 Allure 430 Hood River? My book says it is located behind the main breaker panel in the cabinets above the bed, however my main breaker panel is located in the living room in the cabinet across from my refrigerator.
I'm still working on diagnosing the electrical problems, I'm waiting on an electrician, but I thought it would help if I could tell the guy where the transfer switch is located.
Any help is appreciated.

The batteries tested fine. I think its the transfer switch, which I located in a box beside the surge protector. I get power to the surge guard from the power post, and right after the time delay activates, the surge guard clicks off again. Power gets to the transfer switch, but none comes out. When I run the generator, power is coming out of both ends of both of the transfer switches in the box. I'm now trying to find a replacement somewhere here in Las Vegas.
I'll let you know if that was the problem.

Jerry, power from the generator does not run thought the surge protector. That's why the system works OK using the generator. If plugged into shore power the surge protector cuts out after the 2 minute wait period, might be the transfer switch and might be a GFI outlet. You might try tuning off all the breakers in both the main and sub panels for 120v service inside the coach. Then plug the coach back into shore power and see if the surge protector cuts out. If it cuts out with all the breaker off then transfer switch would be suspect. If the surge protector does not cut out, turn on one breaker at a time. Wait a few minutes and turn another breaker on. When the surge protector cuts out you'll know which circuit to look at. This happened to me and I found the cheap GFI outlet CC used for the frig had a loose wire. Reset all the wires in that outlet and my problem went away. Outlets are cheaper than a new transfer switch. Hope that works.

If the surge protector is cutting out after a two minute wait, could be a floating (loose) neutral or ground. That could happen when the circuit is under a load. I'd try a different power post first.

Hadn't seen these posts. It could simply be a bad surge guard as I said. Smell yours, if it smells burned it is gone even if the lights show no faults. If it is the surge guard, get one from Progressive Industries. The SurgeGuard brand is vastly inferior.

I am just curious, why do you say the surgeguard is vastly inferior? It does have a higher joules rating. I am just wondering because I like to keep on top. If my surge protection goes bad I would like to have a handle on what to replace it with.

I have one of their units unstalled in my coach am very happy with it.

Take a look at the Progressive Industries EMSHW50C www.progressiveindustries.net The surge joules rating is a lot higher than most all in the market place.

What if the open neutral occurs *after* the system is connected. Can the unit respond fast enough?

You are saying that if the neutral opens up *after* the system has connected

power to the coach, it will disconnect power in less than one nano second???
