A park is reborn in the Florida Keys!

Fiesta Key RV Resort, located Mile marker 70 in the Florida Keys is being rebuilt. Living just few miles north of their location, I can confirm that work is underway, a section at a time. What was a Corporate KOA facility, was sold at the height of the real estate market to build Condos. We all know how that worked out.
This park is now owned by Morganrvresorts.com that own parks up and down the East coast. I have not stayed at one of their other parks. I know they are located on long Key, one of the most beautiful pieces of land and clear water on earth.

We just stayed at that park about two weeks ago and did not see any signs of rebuilding. We stay at that park every year because it is close to the business we need to attend to while in the Keys. In the past 3-5 years, it has had several owners and it appears that their idea of improving the park is to raise the rate another $10 a night. The current rate for a full hookup, off-water site is $109/night plus tax. Each year as the price of a campsite has increased, we see more and more empty campsites....we were there the last week of February and counted only about 30 full sites. I don't understand the marketing strategy of increasing prices...wouldn't they rather charge less and have a full campground?
I agree with your description of the land and clear water in the Keys, but feel that the private campgrounds are overcharging for the small sites they have. The State Parks like Long Key, Curry Hammock, Bahia Honda are much nicer for about $35 a night, but you can never get in there in the winter months, so they have no problem attracting campers. If you go to the ReserveUSA site and try to book a site for 11 months out at one of these campgrounds, you will see that they are already booked.
I certainly hope that you are correct, Charles, because that park has so much potential and is in such a beautiful location. I just had to add my comments based on our last visit. Thank you
