Country Coach Quality

During a recent tour of CC's factory (Mid Feb '03), I asked why only a one year warranty...The reply was "it's a sore spot with us" and con- ceded they have to deal with it all the time. Later I was told by a dealership salesman that Country Coach's position is that they provide on site service at rallies; If they stopped providing that service they could do the 36/36 warranty which is becoming more rule instead of the exception with the higher end coach market. Does every CC owner depend on the rally to get free service once their motorhome is out of factory warranty? What if your travel plans don't include one of these gatherings? What if you're fearful to make the trip because of recurring issues ?

When a manufacturer of a product has confidence in their quality, they include a warranty which speaks to that. The Korean car makers are making huge market share gains, in part, because they've stood up to the "iffy" real or perceived poor quality of the past, with 10 year guarantees. The major consumer magazines, who test the products, confirm this.

In closing, last week I spoke with a potential CC purchaser that was buying some other brand because he "lived too far from the factory for service"; he didn't trust the service levels of the non original selling dealerships to fix problems. He reads this forum regularly ...hmmmmm..

As a Country Coach owner on his 2nd CC I'll give my observations.
Our first "large" motorhome was in 1991 when we bought a Foretravel Grand Villia Unihome. Top-of-the-line and sold by a relatively local dealership to our home. He was one of only 2 non-companyowned Foretravel facilities and he was promised by Mr. Fore personally that they could always have the dealership if they performed well.
They did. Mr Fore did not. About 2 years later Foretravel pulled the last 2 non-company dealerships and we lost a lot of faith in the company. We came upon CC at an FMCA Rally in Minot, ND and traded on the spot for a CC Concept. It was a really big step up. We met a lot of people at CC at that and subsequent rallies. We have since stepped up to a CC Prevost. All 3 motorhomes have had service/warranty problems. CC by far has been the best. They go beyond the warranty. They will do what they can over the phone if you have some abilities yourself, after the warranty. We do not get to all the FMCA Rallies or the CC Rallies nor do I plan to just do rallies for repairs. BUT when you are there IT WORKS! This past fall at FMCA they did several warranty repairs and part replacements and out coach is a 1998 model. All NO CHARGE!
Now I can only speak to CC and Foretravel, but I know when we beging to shop again, oour first look will be at Country Coach, AGAIN!!! And I'm sure glad Bob Lee is back in the "driver seat."
