Cord reels

There's no doubt in my mind that some elect. reels are quiet, and also that some seldom, if ever, break. However, for me a sample of two for two is enough. My manual reel is quiet, fast and at least as reliable as I am.
BTW, the second most aggravating thing on my list of annoyances is folks who believe they need to start their diesels and let them idle for half an hour while they break camp. Not only do they make noise, they stink up the place andthey are simply wasting fuel. There is plenty of time to "warm up" the engine when they idle out of camp and work their way to the onramp.

Jim, I agree totally on the idling. Seems to me the biggest offenders are those with diesel pickups that have loud stereos, lots of bling, and seem to shout "look at me". Too bad we cannot legislate courtesy and consideration.

Yeah, noisy diesels idling in the early AM hours. I love it! Just why we don't use campgrounds when traveling and prefer WallyWorld. BUT in defense, once I do arrive at a campground the first thing I do and it was taught to me many years ago by one of the top men at Country Coach, DUMP your air bags and then let the system level-up from there. It's the lowest the front door step will ever be. Now conversely when I am leaving the campground, I have to let the engine build up the air bags to travel. So yup, mine might idle for 15-20 minutes. And yep, it smells great. I like diesel smells.
As for noisy cord reels mine is from 1998 and still works like new. Not noisy at all. The most sound is unlocking the hatch and relocking the hatch where the cord comes in and out from.
