Speed Sensor/Cruise Control/Silver Leaf not showing MPH

Yahoo Message Number: 61650
Hello All, I own a 2007 CC Allure 42 ft that I purchased used last year. The coach has the Allison 3000 and ISL 400. Here is my problem that I am hoping someone may have experienced. My cruise control will not set the normal way.
If I hold down the resume, sometime it will activate. If you use the normal means of turning on the cruise control, pressing the set button does not work.
And by the way, the light on the dash does light when you hit the on button.
Secondly, I just had a new Silver leaf installed, the coach did not come with one, and it will not read MPH. The coach came prewired for the silverleaf so I am sure that the problem is either from the factory or somewhere else. Alll other functions on the silverleal seem to be working properly. I have had the coach inspected front to rear by Oregon Motorcoach and they cannot find any problems. I had Cummins check the engine with the serial port and they show the curise control is setting and do not show any communication problems. I also had Allison check the transmission and when they run the diagnostics on the key pad, they are not finding any errors. Also, the coach on a steep upgrade in 4th gear will go all the way down to 1100 rpm before it shifts. Seems really low. I know there are a lot of different issues going on here, but has anyone had a problem with speed sensors on their transmission that may how shown a similar problem to what I am experiencing.

Thank you very much for all of your replies.

David,

I spoke with you, as a new forum member, on the phone right after you posted this message. While I had thought that your cruise control setting problem was similiar to a problem I had with my 2007, we now agree that it more likely is a problem with ZERO speed reported from the transmission that may be the problem with the setting of cruise control -- you can't set cruise control below 25 mph -- it is thinking that you are doing ZERO.
I am sorry for the lack of response to your problem on the forum. I think that your real problem might have gotten buried in the question, just like my response might hide the question -- but here goes.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why David might not be getting any speed on the ECM(?) from the transmission to feed to his Silverleaf or SmartWheel?

I wonder if he is getting info on other transmission data. i.e. gear, oil temp. If yes I think he should call Allison tech and see if they can help with the missing data link.

Hello All,

My problem has been solved. Finally, thanks to a very, very good Allison Tech, at Cummins West in San Leandro CA, he determined and found that my engine was not sending data to my data link. They ran a new test on my cummins and found that one of the settings for transmission of data was set to mag and it needed to be set to data. Now my cruise control works great and my Silver leaf is reading mph, mpg etc. etc. etc. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.

Happy Trails to all of you,

David
