washer/dryer

Has anyone had the "pleasure" of removing a splendide washer/dryer from a 2003 Intrigue? I would imagine its a difficult process from any RV? Ours died......1st the dial would spin...then if I tried another cycle that one would work for a week....now the drum will not spin at all and sounds SICK....
We took measurements and it looks like it will NOT fit out the door...but MAYBE if we had enough guys we could get it out the window over the sofa??
Would appreciate any info....if we go to camping world would there installation include getting the old one out......
From a woman's point of view...absolutely ridiculous that it is not installled so its accesible!!!!!! How on earth do you even try to fix it if you have to take it out....then I can't even imagine trying to get it back in!!!!!

Thanks for any input....

Linda and Paul...

Friends had that problem... they solved it by dis-assembling the splendide and removing it in pieces...
They then removed the closet floor and replaced the splendide with a stack washer/dryer from Sears... They are really pleased with the Sears wash/dry setup.
I have no connection with Sears other than as a "sometimes" customer.

I have a 96 Intrigue but I think it's the same body style as yours. I removed my washer after removing the screen door. With that gone it just made it with about 1/2" clearance on each side. Took two of us, but not all that hard. Also take off the large metal plate on the rear of the washer to gain clearance, then secure the tub inside with wood or foam blocks so it doesn't move around or slide back out a bit. best I recall it fits thru the door sideways - thats why I removed the back pannel - more clearance that way.
We love the extra closet space, don't miss the washer at all.

You could do what you have to if the refrigerator goes out and remove the windshield. LOL Kevin

Linda ...

We also had to remove our Splendide washer/dryer from our 2001 Intrigue when the unit 'quit'.
We thought that it just wouldn't get out through the door and assumed we'd need to go through the window. But, a good friend and service tech easily took it out through the door without having to take anything apart. He made it look easy ..... easier than I thought it would be. He just took the unit out of the cabinet area, and then just slid it through the coach to the front door...and out.
I remember that all he had to do was remove the hinges from the front door area to make room.
We purchased a new Splendide and took it North (in the back of our car) to have it installed by Carrier & Sons in Eugene. They also easily took it in the door and installed it with no problem ... all in less than an hour.
Assume that our 2001 has the same size as your 2003. If so, it should not be a problem. Just need a good (and strong) service tech.
