Re: Can not get front slide on Affinity 2001 to retract Reply #1 – August 13, 2010, 03:46:38 pm Yahoo Message Number: 62392First start the engine and let it fully charge the chassis batts. Try the bedroom slide and see if you can get the pump to run on the back slide. If you can hear the pump running have someone else press the retract switch on the front slide. Sorry so short, got to go. Kevin00 affinity 5865 Quote Selected

Re: Can not get front slide on Affinity 2001 to retract Reply #3 – August 14, 2010, 09:33:39 am Yahoo Message Number: 62406Corky: If you have not got your front slide retracted yet, go to your HWH slide pump and locate (2) rectangular connectors that have (2) wires attached (mine are blue). On one side of each will have "15 amp max". Lift the top of each up and check each 15 amp inline fuse. One may be blown, if so replace then try to retract the slide. Hope this helps. Re: Can not get front slide on Affinity 2001 to retract Reply #4 – August 14, 2010, 07:30:04 pm Yahoo Message Number: 62422Quote from: corkydowning"ooAffinity 5769ANy recommendations?good ideas so farSeveral years ago when my coach batts. were low, I started the engine, set the Cruise Control to 1,100-1,200 and that generated enough juice to power the pump. I'm sure you exercised both the in and out buttons several times. Sometime air can creep into the lines so you may need to run the pump for a bit longer to get it to purge it. You can bring it in manually.......not that difficult. You need to go to the pump and turn open all four (I believe) of the valves on the top of the pump hydraulic distribution block. Once those are open you can turn the crank which is located in the forward bay -- ceiling, just behind the drives chair. I've done this and it is not difficult to do. Even if you think that you are low on hydraulic fluid, DO NOT ADD HYDRAULIC FLUID BEFORE YOU PREFORM THIS MANUAL PROCEDURE! I did and it's a mess to clean up! :-(good luck Den 2001 42 Affinity # 5972.Good luck Quote Selected

Re: Can not get front slide on Affinity 2001 to retract Reply #6 – August 14, 2010, 11:14:56 pm Yahoo Message Number: 62431We had a problem getting the slide to come in on our 2000 Magna. Diagnosis led is to check operation of various electrical components, but eventually removed the ground strap, sanded the area around the mounting screw and reattached the ground strap. Then painted the whole assembly to prevent moisture access. No problems since. The problem apparently was caused by a weak ground connection....the bolt had rust around it. Starting the engine was a viable solution for awhile because the extra charging voltage on the battery was enough to overcome the rusty ground connection...for awhile...eventually, just cleaning up the rusty ground strap connection was all it took. (could easily have been persuaded to replace switches on the dash, the relay at the pump motor, or perhaps even replace the pump!!!...Thankfully, saved my money and just invested in some sand paper.)Best wishes -skip-2000 Magna 5778 Quote Selected
Re: Can not get front slide on Affinity 2001 to retract Reply #7 – August 15, 2010, 01:16:32 am Yahoo Message Number: 62437Just went thorough this with our Intrigue. The pump ran when the extend/retract switch was depressed. Problem was the the switch itself, an 8 buck part. Problem was diagnosed by HWH here at the FMCA convention.Don'02 Intrigue #11427 Quote Selected

Re: Can not get front slide on Affinity 2001 to retract Reply #9 – August 15, 2010, 11:12:37 am Yahoo Message Number: 62445Good Morning All,Many thanks for all the valuable advice and support. It's awesome how my wife and I can always count on this group. The culprit was the switch. All I did was to take the Extend/Retract Switch out and clean the terminals. In the next few weeks I'll take everyone's suggestions that I've received and run through the system, primarily electrical and clean, re-set, sand, and paint. All the Best,Corky & Kathleen 00 Affinity B&B 5769 Quote Selected

Are you talking about the ground strap in the battery bay or some other ground strap associated with the slide system?Steve2002 Intrigue #11382 Quote Selected
