I think some of the other members might agree. Keep the responses coming, I love them.Kevin Holmes 05 Intrigue 11886 Quote Selected

We agree too, and we save those in a mailbox on our MacBook to refer when we're heading out. Learning from those who have been there is great! Thanks.Mary Frederick 06 Inspire 51784 Quote Selected

Re: Reply #28 – August 23, 2010, 11:46:19 pm Yahoo Message Number: 62721Matthew,I would recommend 2 routes that make it easier to avoid a lot of the traffic in the LA area. I have lived most of my life in the LA area and burbs and have spent way too much of my time on the road and in traffic. We have used both ways on our way to Northern California and Oregon. The first route is the easiest driving, least amount of trucks, better roads and least amount of heavy traffic but is a bit longer in miles and time. Since you are coming from the City you would need to get over to the 99 from the 5 (where ever you feel comfortable) once you are in the central valley and I would stay at the Lakes in Chowchilla over night. It's a little bit north of Bakersfield on the 99. Then take the 99 to the 58 to the 395 to the 15 to the 10 to Indio. You should have very little traffic to worry about after the Lakes. The road is pretty good the whole way but beware of a few dips after you turn on the 395 for a small stretch. Not bad but could startle you. The down side is it is ugly desert, very hot and sometimes windy. You will hit a few grades but nothing bad and will be going down Cajon Pass which is easy with our exhaust brakes. The route we take using the 5 has more possibility for traffic, takes you over the grapevine but is a little shorter. Take the 5 south to the 210 to the 15 to the 10 to Indio. I haven't taken the 210 past the 15 (where it used to end) but I think somebody said they finished it all the way - can't verify but maybe someone else can. This routes you around most of the traffic except through Pasadena to San Dimas on the 210 but on Saturday you should be ok anyway.BTW do you own a lot at Pacific Shores. I spoke with a Matthew in July about his lot there when we were thinking of buying a lot? Good Luck and you will be missing the heat wave this week by Friday.Safe Travels, Kathy'06 Inspire #51782 Quote Selected

I STOPPED USING THE 5 TO THE 210 BECAUSE TRAFFIC AROUND PASADENA CAN REALLY SLOW YOU DOWN.99 TO 58 TO 395 TO 210 TO THE 10 WORKS WELL FOR ME AND I DRIVE IT OFTEN.
