You'll never believe it

I've been in this campground in Northern Michigan for a while. This morning I got up and looked outside. What I noticed was a neighbor about 4 coaches away with a CC and water was running off his roof. I couldn't quite make out what was happening at first. As soon as I recognized it I grabbed my shorts and ran over. The older gentleman was standing outside and seemed unconcerned. I asked him if everything was alright, he assured me it was and went on to explain what he was doing. It seems since the tank gauges weren't working properly he would close the black and grey tank valves then using the flush system he would fill the tanks until they ran out the vent on the roof. He would then open the valves in the hope he would get a "complete drain".I was speechless.

OMG!!!!

But then it takes all kinds. Remind me never to go in HIS coach or accept his hospitality of a sandwich. Who knows what other liquids run inside. But then again ANYONE with $$ can buy an RV and drive it off the dealers lot.

Depending on the type of toilet, that may (repeat may) be true for the black tank, but.... the gray tank most likely not true... Water seeks its own level, the water would come out of the shower drain , then sink drains, washer drain, etc before it ever came out the roof vent.

Sounds a bit hard to believe! The 'stuff' would come up your shower and sink drains well before it came out the roof vent?

Makes a good camp fire story tho.

Sorry by accident I did overfill the system and yes it comes out the roof vent, big mess and not my proudest moment. I would never admit to being so stupid. Sorry about the other owner but he will so have a bacterial stew that we cause him some harm, and that is a sad situation.

Jim,

Are you talking about the black or gray tank? IF the black tank, I can see that depending on the type of toilet. (Flapper valve type or one with a "hard" waste closure in the bowl, i.e. not headhunter, etc.
If you are talking about the gray tank, did it not come out the shower drain and sink drains?

Mikee you are making me eat dirt, but yes it was the black water tank. I was flushing it and as is my custom I close the valve to let the tank fill prior to dumping, need I say more. Darn guy had good wine and I will let you fill in the blanks. You do it once.

My little backflow preventer (under bath sink) on the rinse gadget blew its cork, and had flooded the bathroom before I found it. Thankfully it was clean water, so it was a little catastrophe, not a MAJOR CATASTROPHE like you describe. Backflow preventers, flow restrictors, and other "safety" items are nearly as bad as computer passwords for aggravation.
I have good luck with a product called Ozium (sp?), used in hospitals for smells like that. Good luck.

No Jim I have done it twice and the wine wasn't all that good but the one holding the bottle was and it wasn't a guy.

I know it's hard to believe but for those of you who think I'm pulling your leg, I'm not I witnessed the whole thing.
