Silverleaf error code 94 High Fuel Pressure

Hi All,

We're on a 3K trip, and had this message pop up today. Started coach with no error codes. Drove for about three hours, and then this error code popped up on the diagnostic. Engine ran good, the guages and scan on Silverleaf were all OK.
Got to our stop for the day, about an hour later. Turned off engine, and restarted everything up. No error codes?

Two things:
1) I had stopped and topped off about 1/3 tank of fuel, the day before. Drove about another 100 miles that day with no errors. (bad fuel?)
2) Driving thru Las Vegas I15, I got caught behind a cement truck (not a mixer, but a powder looking hopper type unit, they use to mix batches on big sites). Was caught behind him for about 10 miles, and every bump, some junk (powder) would fall out of the unit.

In the park last night, we found our toad covered with an incredibly stuck on 'mix' of junk. Paint, windows, etc. I had to use rubbing alcohol to cut the junk of windows. Don't know for sure this came from this turck, but it is all I can think of.
The fuel filter bowl looked OK on color, with maybe some stuff in it. Will check with a light in the AM. So I felt it was not a bad 1/3 tank of fuel(??). Would junk getting into a Air Filter, possibly cause this code? Could the engine not be breathing well from a clogged filter? (New filter 1500 miles ago)

As the code went away, and the first glance at the filter looked good (will check again in the AM). I'm planning to run about 300 miles to where we will be for about a week. If I need to change anything out, I will do so then. Will be reading emails on the road, DROID! So, if some of you have been here before, and think I should STOP! Please chime in.

Smitty, I've had many High Pressure faults shown on my SilverLeaf over the years. On my coach it happens with the Jake Brake ON and driving down steep grades where the RPM's may "momentarily" exceed engine RPM Spec's.
If the code is not active on your screen I would drive on. Only other option is to pay Cummins to put it on the computer for a thorough diagnosis.

My SilverLeaf doesn't report Cummins fuel pressure on my laptop. I was told by Silverleafe that Cummins ECM doesn't eport fuel pressure? Are other seeing fuel pressure on their Cummins engines? TIA

Hi Mike,

It was after climbing down a steep grade, with Jake brake on, kicking in at about 65 mph - that I first noted the message. (May have been on earlier, I have to lean up to clear the hub of the steering wheel to see the screen. Watch all water/trans temp and oil pressure frequently, check the Silverleaf when several times an hour, as I check the tire temps all around too.)
I'll still look at the filter before heading out. But, you give me a comfortable feeling.

Gents I have an ISX 650 HP motor and get this quite often. When it first happened ( long down grade , 65 MPH and Jake on at max RPM ) I called Ben Buchanen in CC engineering. He explained that at very high RPM the and Jake on there is a huge amount of fuel being returned to the tank, as it is not being used by the engine. It goes through the Rollover Valve on the top of the tank. This valve closes , on rollover, to prevent fuel from leaking from the tank. This valve causes extra restriction, causing the pressure to increase, and give the error reading. Ben said that they would add another rollover valve ( as the rollover valve selected was the largest they had available ) and the problem would go away. Well they shut down before this got done , so I live with it. It is , indeed not reported, on the standard dash, but only on the Silverleaf. I try to not use the jake at high rpm's, but some times you can't avoid it. If it really concerns you , and you have the ISL engine , they probably have a larger rollover valve you could put in. Generally a Cummins tech would not see this fault, since truck/ chassis builders use their own tank and plumbing arrangements on the fuel and fuel lines. Since motor home builders supply all these components , they some times do not see all the variables and under design the components. I would not worry about this fault coming up
