left side view mirror camera doesnt work anymore

The driver's side camera has stopped working. when driving it would flicker off/on for about a hundred miles and then finally it just died (black screen)... so i think maybe it could be a loose electrical connection, but maybe this is also how cameras die too?
Since i dont have a new camera to replace and test, what is the best way to proceed?
Could this problem be the camera itself? if so, then maybe I should bite the bullet and buy a new camera so at least i can test things. (or should i just temporarily swap the right-side camera?)
Or is there a common place in the coach where people have seen/heard of this problem before -- a place where the electrical connections comes loose?
does anyone know how this is wired? is it a straight shot from the mirror to the head-unit, so basically it is either camera, point A, or point B?
any help is appreciated so i can tear apart as little stuff as possible. thanks

For a source, Pyle cameras, many under $50., will hook right up, but may need a little mounting mod.

when ordering a back-up camera for my trailer I was told by CC to make sure to get the right camera. The Weldex system they used in My 09 Magna needed a reverse image camera, otherwise the camera viewing in the coach will be backwards. I contacted Weldex directly and got the proper camera. If your camera is in the mirror , the mirror company will tell you which one to get. I believe the Sony camera's give the reverse image. Please check and find out if the supplier will exchange camera's if necessary

My rear camera acted the same way and it turned out to be a loose connection at the switching box. What is your year and model? Jim Myers
