HWH RAISE function

The HWH control panel on our 2003 Country Coach Intrigue is mounted very near the floor. If we need to use the HWH RAISE function while driving, it is nearly impossible to hold the button with one hand and try to negotiate traffic and terrain while peeking over the dash.
Does anyone know if it is possible to have a remote RAISE button installed? Are there contacts on the back of the HWH panel that I could connect a switch to? I'd like to have a remote switch near the tag raise switch with an in-line beeper. That way I'd hear it beeping everytime I turned the remote RAISE function on. With the optional 400 hp Cummins engine, rear clearance on our coach is fairly low and I find myself using the raise function fairly often as we negotiate uneven terrain.

This feature is meant to be used at idle speeds or parked because it throws off your drive shaft angle, thats why the button is momentary. Some people will use this while parked to raise the coach up high enough to inspect or service the chassis, others will use it breifly while pulling into steep driveways. Your ground clearance should be fine with the tag axle, just make sure the tag is down.

I did once have a customer who didn't like holding his "dump" button while pulling into his building. He use a "pocket clip" off a pen, drilled a hole in one end and mounted it down using one of the 4 mounting bolts on your computer pad. All he did was swing it over so the ball of the clip was on the dump button, it worked great.

Hi RVRobert,

Yes, you can do it. However, you would be soldering wires to the back of the printed circuit board on which is mounted the led indicators and pushbuttons behind the front facia of the control panel. It would require a pushbutton with two sets of isolated contacts (double pole momentary). On the pc board, one set of wires soldered to the top 2(horizontal)contacts of the pb and the other to the bottom two (horizontal) contacts of the pb using #24 wire. It's fairly easy to locate which pushbutton on the board is associated with Raise. I would verify the right contacts with the ohmmeter function of a multimeter.
Getting access to the back is easy. There is a no-covered silvery phillips screw head with depressed washer that secure the dash cover located at the left and right inboard just about 2" above covered bolts. Removing the 2 screws and the dash cover slides toward the windshield. Or, remove the passenger front panel to at least see what's behind the control panel. The dash cover may not require removal.
Since the location is at the bottom, remove the control panel from the front and then remove the ribbon cable connector so the panel can be completely removed to better locate the pushbutton in question. You will have to have rear access to the panel as the 4 bolts that secure the panel have nuts on the rear. Are you sure you want to do this? It's possible.

Fred explained that I should check my HWH manual to see if my HWH Raise function has a latching capability. I did and IT DOES!!! Yippee. Problem should be solved IF it works the way the manual says it should. I'll give it a try next time we move the coach. The RAISE latching function is supposed to stay latched until the coach hits 10 mph or until an "emergency stop" button is pressed. I can't find an "emergency stop button" anywhere on my coach. I'm just delighted to hear that the latch function is supposed to be on my coach. Thanks to Fred for pointing this out to me.
