Air antenna

What is the best way to align my tv antenna?
Say I am facing North and the Station is due west. I raise my antenna, therefore the winegard antenna (without wing) is facing in the correct alignment but is there a front and back? Is the location good as is or should I rotate it 180 degrees?

One never knows for sure, just turn to the channel you want, and watch the tv and begin rotating the antenna. If it is a digital antenna, and feed, you even have a signal meter built in to the tv, or tv box. Make sure if there is a booster, that it is on. Good luck

Hi,

I do two things to help. 1. I cut a little arrow point from a "sticky" dot and put it on the Winegard rotating knob so I can tell where the antenna is pointing and 2. Checkout www.antennaweb.org. This is a great web site and will give the direction of the various TV broadcast antennae from your address.

I have had some time now to experiment with this. First let me say that my antenna is a Braund Concord not a winegard.
This was a great tip, I didn't know about the signal meter, it was buried on the 3rd page of my setup menu. Thank you !!!
My antenna is symmetrical and appears to have no front or back with the exception where the coax cable attaches to it. In the raised position turning the antenna the smallest amount possible to alignment causes the wire to be closest to the source. (I would want to call that the "front" of the antenna). I tuned it in and got the best signal. Then I rotated the antenna 180 degrees and picked up about 6 points in strength. So it seems at this time with little data to support it the antenna works best "backwards"

The aiming of your off air antenna, will change everytime you move the RV, and a scan is needed if moved to another town or very far from last position. Some towns have many channels, and some little to none.
