Coolant Hose Leak

I recently pulled into a campground in Breaux Bridge, LA and discovered coolant covering the toad and a puddle under the engine. I traced the leak to a burst 3/8 inch hose coming from the top of the turbo charger. This hose runs to the coolant reservoir. After removing the hose I noticed the rupture was along a manufacturing seam that ran it's full length. I then inspected the other three hoses that run from the reservoir and found that each one was slightly leaking along this seam. I then replaced all four hoses and replaced seven gallons of coolant. I noticed that the new hoses also had this seam. Something I will check frequently in the future. The coach has 43,000 miles.

I had a similar experience with my CAT-13 at 35,000 Miles a month ago. It was 2 hoses with pin hole leaks in each. One was part of the CAT engine cooling loop, one installed by CC during the coach build. The CAT Service Center did almost all the work/parts under my CAT warranty. I agree with Jerry . . . areas to monitor visually when you check oil/coolant levels regularly.

Lee & Jerry, just for future reference, my Hurricane "fuel supply" & "return fuel lines" were found leaking. These were both Gates products. I replaced them with AeroQuip Fuel Hoses a division of EATON. The AeroQuip Series of hoses is their FC-332 made from 1/4" ID thru 3/4". It was expensive approx. $3.50/ft, but it will be there after I'm gone.
For the record my Engine & Generator hoses were a different Gates Pt.# and so far are OK. I contacted gates on the Hurricane hoses that CC put in...they admitted to me that that series Pt. #'s were not their best effort.
