Smartire

So I am close to replacing my tires and therefore it makes sense to replace the Smartire sensors. But the price compared to replacing the entire system with another seems very high. I like the system, the fact that the sensors are out of harms way in the tire and the neat small screen is a draw to remain with it. Has anyone changed Smartire out for another system that is in tire and that the screen fits the space vacated by the smartire screen, or at least covers the hole?

I replaced my Smart Tire remote transmitters when I got new tires last year. I set my controller to Junction City, Dickman/Schwab (I think). They programmed the receiver for the new transmitter for me. easy install when replacing tires and they all work just fine. I'd do it again even though it was not cheap, can't remember exactly but it was about $75 per transmitter.

I got my tires in North Carolina. Before taking off the old tires, I took out the Smart Tire receiver box and mailed in to Dickman/Schwab in Junction City. They sold me the new transmitters, reprogrammed the receiver box, labeled the transmitters and sent them back to me in NC. this is their normal mode of operation.

Hi Michael,

Just my opinion but I would do what was necessary to keep the SmarTire system. There is nothing else available that will do what the SmarTire does. Dickman tire is great to work with and they will sell you the new sensors and program your receiver for a reasonable cost and return them to you quickly. I realize they are a long way from your location but still worth consideration. I replace mine last year and glad I stayed with SmarTire. Make sure and get the 'Orange' sensors and not the 'yellow'.

By the way. if you have a Silverleaf that monitors SmarTire you can program the new sensors yourself. Unfortunately I don't have this.

I am coming to a similar conclusion that Smartire is the best out there in many respects it's just that the cost of the sensors alone are almost twice the cost of a new system, and I have to send the control box across the pond. I do have Silverleaf, the 240 display, but a separate Smartire display. Which Silver leaf heads can program the Smartires', do you know? This would be a good way for me to go.

I changed my tires last year and ordered the sensors from Bob Dickman. My Michelin dealer did not want to mess with the sensors so when they had the tire off the rim I changed the sensors myself then they mounted the tires. I have silverleaf so reprogrammed it myself. You just have to keep the list of numbers of which sensor goes in which wheel.

SilverLeaf can also display the PressurePro brand. I switched when I bought my Intrigue because I already had them for the car and two axels on the Inspire. Much easier install and replacement.
