Questions on our New Coach

Yahoo Message Number: 65823
We just returned home in Calif from Texas after picking up our 2005 CC Allure Siskyou Summit #31242. We hit every type of weather except snow which leads me into my first question:

1)I opened the coach door and the wind caught it slaming it open which broke the metal opening retainer. Where can I get a replacement?
2) I am looking for a battery watering system. Any advice?
3) Where can I get the plastic cabinet latch retainers? I already broke one.

This is our first coach ( we tried to buy our second coach first) and I'm going to need lots of advice.

Thanks for the help!

This is an item that does break and there is a lot of discussion on this in the forum file section. One of the members Russ has developed a replacement rod in stainless steel. Because of the discussion I was thinking of buying one as backup for when mine broke; but, in researching the matter I found out that there is a one piece and a two piece style. The replacement door check developed by Russ is the one piece style and I had the two piece style.

Next, I just broke my door check which as stated is the two piece style. My door check broke at the rivet where it attaches to the door jam. It is about two inches long and has a hole for a rivet on each end. Of course the door manufacturer (Avionics) is no longer in business. I found out that the parts department at Holland Motors in San Diego had a fabricator make up this piece of the door check and has them in stock. If you broke the longer piece inside the door I don't know the answer.
You may find that the whole mechanism is inside the door where you cannot determine what it looks like. Because of my prior considerations I had taken a photo of the door check mechanism and thus knew that it was not the one piece style. I don't know which coaches had which style or if there is any consistency between coaches. I have a 2006 430 Allure if that is of any help.

Good luck

I opened my door on the Oregon coast 2 years ago and the wind tore the door out of my hands and the same thing happened. I didn't know there were two types, but I have the single piece. I had heard of Russ' design and bought one from John Davis (www.jdrv1.com). Had it installed at OMC and haven't had any troubles since. However, I'm very careful when I open my door now.
