This sounds interesting, I was trying to cut down on expenses and had Comcast TV at home and Direct TV in the RV via a satelite dome. I found that if I subscribed to Direct TV at home, with a free dish and set up, I could add the Rv as just another bedroom at less than $10 per month unless you want local stations at your home location which adds another $9 per month. I saved $60.00 per month by doing this. Direct TV will also let you put the RV on hold if you store it for more than 30 days and not charge for the service during your storage time, although at $9 per month it may not be worth the trouble to fool with it.

I have Direct TV at home with a dish. I have a dome antenna on my coach. When we go away, I unplug the box from the house and put it in the coach.

Cost is zero for the coach.

It would be very inconvenient for me to do that as my Direct TV DVR is behind a cover that has cutouts for the face of each piece of equipment installed in the space for all of the entertainment equipment. The plate has 8 screws and the equipment is double sided taped to keep it from moving while in motion. My home equipment is in a cabinet that is hard to remove the DVR from and beside I have HD at home and just digital TV in the RV. Thanks for trying to save me more money anyway, I am happy with the $60 per month saved already.

I have Dish for home and RV, Comcast for internet. Plus Verzion wireless for away from home. Will be very curious about the speed of the new Verzion system. Have to wait a year plus before it is wide spread enough to be of use. Could it be close enough to cable speed?

I have both Comcast and the USB G3 cell phone system - mine is Verizon. The cell phone connection is like molasses in January compared to Comcast plus there is a 5GB/month limit. So far not a problem with slow download speeds. And that is using an amp and full signal.

I recommend Virgin Mobile's Broadband2Go service. You purchase the MC760 USB device for around $80 then, after activating, purchase access to the web as your needs dictate, up to unlimited for $40/mo. No contract - very easy.

Or, go for Verizon wireless broadband for $60 that works just about everywhere, to include under trees, in motion and of course at home in the stick house. A router is available that lets us use it at the same time on our laptops. We've used it for 2 years and the convenience, reliability and ease-of-use is hard to beat IMO.

I Agree with Larry, Verizon Wireless has a great system. Have had mine for 5 years, and it does everything I need. For some who may have large downloads, the the 5 GB per month may not be enough. For me, I never use half, and it works in better 95 % of where I travel. Like you say, in the trees, on the go, and speeds maybe some better that a satellite dish. No trouble to speak of in all my years with it. And another thing, with 4G coming, it will only get better.

I am updating my Verizon to a Droid in a few weeks (contract is up) what is this about ..pay as you go.
I have Direct Tv. But purchased a wireless device for my verizon blackberry to get WI-if.....$35.00 for 3gb But my phone contract itself is unlimited. Again sorry coming in at tail end...maybe you can email me directly so as not to bore the group with repeats... Thank You so much..
