1000 hr Onan Service Inspires

Are there any Inspire owners that had the 1,000 hr Onan service? Since our Onan is not on a slide tray were the techs able to drop the genset from the rails or was the lower quarter of the front cap removed?

The 1000 hr. servicing looked pretty complicated so I put it off (with the exception of the oil and filters) until 1500 hrs. which is coming up soon. Let us know how it goes.

Ken Retired Cat Tech here, I have dropped many a RV Genset and no problem being done. Most of the time is spent if not being able to drop the package is removing the front acess cover on the Coach and useing a forklift and some fellow techs help pull out the complete unit on Onans All work on the 1000 hour must be done Make sure the Exhaust system in correctly inspected and have the tech's look for soot and leaks also any updates to your model package. A good shop knows and does this all the time. Good luck, Ken 99 Allure 30356

I had the 1000 mile service done on my 2006 Allure and they did not replace hoses and the belt. Their response was that the hoses and belts looked good. The first time we fired up the gen set to run the AC in 95 degree temperature the gen set shut down for overheating. Yep the fan belt broke.
Actually, just disintegrated. You may also find that it is much harder to find the parts in Death Valley that at the service shop.

Never hurts to carry spare belts as some of ours are not in the common range.

Thanks for Sharing! We Always replaced Belts and Cleaned Brushes unless the Cust did not want it which was never. My Name is on the report and I only do things right! We are required to do all tasks relating to Engine Hours and or Time. Hoses were not part of a 1000 hour check but Age factor was then hoses were changed. Those Techs should of known. We were Factory Traind Always ask if they are Factory Trained not ASE.
