Counter top ovens

My CC Allure has no built-in oven. My wife complained that the microwave/ convection oven is a poor substitute. My good freind Dale (previous GE rep) suggested replacing it with an "Advantium" as he did in his Country Coach.
A few weeks ago there was some discussion about New Wave ovens. Some liked the idea that portable ovens allow one to cook outdoors. Makes sense to me! Operating a a hot oven seems counter productive especially when the A/C is running.
IMHO,I think I have found a pretty good solution. A few weeks ago, I purchased a George Foreman Counter Top Oven, Model T 02021B. This is a new item in their line. It is like a high quality toaster oven but also includes a rotisserie feature.
With 1600 watts of power and four infra red elements it is doing a great job for us from toasting to rotisserie baking a 5Lb chicken. The rotisserie feature is really fun to use. It even bakes a 12" pizza. Everything is coming out great! Besides, you can have fun outdoors making your neighbors drool with those wonderful baking aromas wafting through the whole campsite!
If you are interested, go online to: http://www.georgeforemancooking.com Click on "new products". You will see the description and if you click on reviews you will see my comments. It may still show "Write the first review" click on it anyway. my review will show up.
Regular list price is $129 but, online intro special is $69. It is well worth more. Also available at Kohls @$99.
No! I do not have stock in George Foreman; I just like to share a good thing.

Happy new year! Have fun out there....safely.

Don't the directions on the George Foreman oven say...Do not use outdoors? Most of the ones I've looked at have that direction.

Carol,

Thanks, Carol. Good observation. Others may have also noticed this. You are absolutely right! The manual states "Do not use outdoors". In my career I wrote many manuals similar to this. They always had to pass the scrutiny of the legal beagles in our organization before we published. I had to fight them to keep them from including the "Ten Commandments" into the instructions! FWIW, Here are my thoughts on that statement listed in the manual under " Important Safeguards": With all due respect to the manual writers, I believe that this is a disclaimer that you will find on most electric appliances. I'm not sure but, I'm guessing that the manufacturers want to go on record for warning users in case someone leaves it out in the rain while it is operating. This may cause an electrical problem. However, I observed that the power cord has a grounded plug for some protection, But, I am not advocating using it in the rain!. Reading between the lines, my thinking is that they may also mean: "Do not leave the appliance outside forever as the components are not designed to withstand the ravages of weather conditions like ocean mist, acid rain, salt air and/or freezing temperatures for extended periods of time as the components and exterior finishes may then fail or deteriorate." It is doubtful to me that any of us would commit such a gross infraction. However, if anyone does these things, the manufacturer can quote the warning in the manual. They simply state "Do not use outdoors." and leave us guessing, "Why not?". Anyway, then, they may be off the hook for their three year warranty if anything goes haywire.
The instruction manual also states "Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. Do not let cord hang over edge of table. Do not place on hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven, etc., etc.".....Duh... !!!??
Whenever we plan to use it outdoors, it will be under my awning, in good weather and under my supervision. Then, I will store it inside the galley or in a sealed outside compartment. Correct me if I am wrong, but, I am fairly certain that most of us would treat this type of appliance with the proper respect.
BTW Does anyone know if the NuWave oven has the same " Important Safeguards" statement in their manual?

I have a knife which came with a warning, "Use with care, blade is sharp and can cause personal injury...." Really!

Dallas, While I suspect that some of your reply is tongue in cheek, the GFI outlets have you covered on the electric side. Don't know about playing with knives.
