In-Motion Satellite

Yahoo Message Number: 67049
I've subscribed to DirecTV and find out that my in-motion satellite system (TracStar) can't receive any of the Hi-Def Channels since DirecTV switched to the new satellites for hi-def. Does any other in-motion satellite system offer satellite service that includes DirecTV high definition channels?

For close to two years, Direc TV does not work with any dome system for the HD Channels. That requires an open face dish system that will only work when sitting still. All basic channels for direct tv in standard definition will still work, but no HD, with a dome.
Dish network receivers will work with an inmotion dish if have to have HD going down the road. They do have limitations however, and make a non compatable situation lots.
Two systems that can now get you HD with Direct tv, Motosat, and Winegard. They both will work, when sitting still, and both work well when properly installed. They each have pros and cons.

I encountered the exact same problem this past weekend when I attempted to activate my DirecTV HD receiver in my recently purchased Country Coach. After 3 days of phone calls to DirecTV, I finally found a Tech Rep who knew what they were talking about. I also have the TracStar in my 2007 Inspire and it does not track the new DirecTV HD satellites which are located at 99 and 103 degrees West Longitude. DirecTV is sending me a new HD receiver and suggested that I consider changing my antenna system to a Wineguard, which can receive all 5 DirecTV satellites.

No in motion satellite will bring in HD programs for Direc TV, only a pop up style from either MotoSat, or Winegard makes one that will work.
Both are working very well now days, Winegard is a little cheaper, warranty a year shorter. Winegard is not repairable in the field, and must be sent to factory if you have a failure, and a Motosat, is easyly repaired by a dealer who knows what he is doing.
Installs are important to be done correctly, or you can do them your self.

Good luck,
