Engine oil dipstick housing melting

Good afternoon CC owners

Just wondering if anyone has any experience and advice on how I can replace my Cummins ISL 370 engine dipstick housing. Part of it was too close the the exhaust manifold and started melting and leaking. I wrapped some foil tape around it and repositioned it while on the road for a temporary fix, but it needs to be replaced. I'm thinking this is a CC housing because of the need to cut them to unique sizes for different coaches. I need to locate a new one, cut it to size and install it. I'm not sure if it's pressed into the engine block, or maybe it scews in? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

I ran into this in my 04 Allure about four years ago. A Cummins shop picked it up. CC routed the dip stick too close to the exhaust manifold.
The Cummins boys took care of it and fabricated an asbestos sleeve and new dipstick. One thing to be mindful of is that if you increase the length of the dipstick to avoid the hot surfaces make sure the new dipstick is properly calibrated to give the proper oil level readings.

HTH and contact me off line and I'll do anything I van to help you.

Larry,

I had the same issue with my coach, I took it to Lazy Days near Tampa and they replaced the damaged (melted) one with a metal housing. I believe they pressed it in but it has been so long ago that I am not certain of that. A service rep at Lazy Days might be able to give you some guidance and their parts department might have the part you need.

Thanks to all who responded. I'm going to check with CC and Cummins parts and see what they have.
