GT TIRES OR HANKOOK TIRES

My tire guy is trying to push me towards GT tires or Hankook tires for my 2005 Allure to replace my Toyos. I don't see us going more than 5000 miles a year at this time and he says they will rot off before I wear them out. Any thoughts?

That is true of any tire you put on a motor home, unless you are the exception that drives 50,000 miles a year.
Many of us would rather pay a bit more (or a lot more) to get a tire with a name we know and trust with our lives.
If you have never experienced a blow out with a five year old tire, you have no idea the amount of damage it can cause $$$$. JMHO

I am definitely buying new tires in the next couple of months to replace the original Toyos (12R22.5)on the 2003 Intrigue I bought last year.
I have to talked to Bob Dickman Tire in Junction City and to the local truck tire dealer here south of Detroit. Both in my size have recommended the same two tires -- Michelin XZE or Bridgestone R280F.

OOps posted before I was done somehow. I meant to say Bridgestone R250F. And that I am leaning toward the Bridgestones at about $100 less each.

If you have the unfortunate luck to replace one of the tires during there life span there is benefit having a national brand tire. Michelin-Bridgestone AL

I am with AL and Gary. My go-to shop is Precision Frame & Alignment, Inc, just north of St. Paul, MN. Dick Lorntson is excellent to work with and his shop has a 5 star reputation. Since I have 315s on the front, 295s on the drive/tag, the Michelin's were put on the front last summer (I had GY G670s all around originally and the fronts were showing the typical excessive wear on the outer tread), the Bridgestones go on the tag/drive within the next 12 months or so. Staggering the tire installs is a little easier on the budget.

The Michelin-Bridgestone set-up was Dick's recommendation as well.
I also visit Precision once a year to check the chassis suspension/alignment/ride height and get a full lube including king pins.

I will second Lee's post.

They are a serious alignment and frame shop in the twin cities Mpls-St. Paul area.
If your looking for Precision Alignment the location is Elk River, MN. Also a Koni shock dealer. I ordered Koni prior to trip and had them installed while I waited on a "first in" morning appointment.
Great shop, clean work areas, fair prices, great owner and employees. They have 3 heavy duty truck alignment racks permanently installed.

Right on AL! I go in on Sunday afternoon, park in their lot overnight (electricity), first in Monday AM.
