Plumbing Bay (fresh water tank fill related) Question

Greeting -

My question for the group involves a situation whereby my fresh water tank is filling from the external water spigot even though I don't have the "Fresh Water Fill" switch turned on. It doesn't fill the tank quickly, however over the span of 24 hours, my fresh water tank will actually fill nearly 3/4. I believe I have narrowed it down to 2 possibilities... (unless you can offer up a 3rd option)
Either the "Fresh Water Fill" water valve solenoid isn't closing all the way allowing the fresh water pressure from the spigot to slowly leak into the fresh water storage tank..
Or, the fresh water pressure coming fromm the outside spigot is slowly sending water backwards through the water pump in the plumbing bay which of course connects to the fresh water bay. When I have my Water Pump turned on, I do hear it cycling every 2 - 3 minutes even though no water is being called for. It only cycles for 3 seconds and then turns off.
In either case, I would have expected there to be a water valve devise that prevents water back flow into the fresh water tank.
So, anyone have any ideas or possibly have come across this situation yourselves? I'm curious what the fix options entail.

I have the manual water tank fill ball valve, and when I have bumped it partially open in the past, it will allow the water pump to cycle as you describe. If you have an electric valve, I would suspect that it is not sealing well.
I recently took my pressure regulator out of the system (replaced it temporarily with a 6" galvanized pipe nipple), removed the water filter in the canister, and still have low flow issues. It will flow fine when a tap is first opened, but then will decrease to about ¾ flow in a few seconds. That means I am getting the pressure, just a restriction somewhere. Am I missing a strainer or OTHER filter somewhere? No help looking in the plumbing schematic in my manual. Hoses and water supply switched, no change.
A pressure gauge in the supply hose may tell if the supply is at fault. Note to self - buy pressure gauge.

I would think the solenoid is the flow control valve mechanism.
It would seem that the bypass into the tank is not fully sealed and water pressure from the city water connection at the solenoid valve causes the tank to receive water.
I have documented the water fill board wiring when I repaired my water fill circuit board, but I have not had your current problem.

I agree with Dean on the solenoid being the likely problem. However, there is definitely something going on with your pump cycling like that. Either a leak or a shot pump. How old is the pump?

Check the china toilet for a reason that your pump runs. The solenoid valve gets gummed up with calcium deposits and opens up. At least this is what happened on mine. Luckily there is an overflow drain on the toilet and I have a shut off vlave on my toilet.
It's very possible that one of the valves are stuck or leaking. They are accessable from the panel on the left in the water bay. I think there is also a check valve somewhere in the circuit. I think the one that fills the tank is the second one from the right.

Same model, same issues...

You have stinky hydronic hoses also?

I don't remember how much clorox to use because I just look at the back of the mirrored medicine cabinet door where CC conveniently posted the process. Yours probably has it as well. If I was at the coach I would answer your question.

I take the easy way out. I never add Clorox to my fresh water tank. About 3 or 4 times a year I fill the tank with water from a municipal supply. Its already clorinated to the appropriate level. I head on down the road and use the water as needed. No muss no fuss.
