Arkansas and Missouri Trip

This summer part of our travels will include going from Shreveport, LA to southern Iowa. We plan to send several weeks in the mountains (hills if you're from the west) of Arkansas and Missouri. Can anyone suggest suitable roads and places to see/stay. We will go to Branson.

We just left Shreveport, LA, and stayed in Tall Pines RV Park. It is excellent! We ate at Becca's nearby the rv park per the suggestion of the owner of the rv park, and the food was delicious and Cajun. Lots of fun too. The route we drove from Shreveport to El Dorado, AR, today was beautiful through a national forest.

Jerry, we live in Branson, please drop by. The roads in northern Arkansas can often be 15-20 miles of bad RV roads. There are a couple of work-arounds, which are longer but not white knuckle experiences. . . . unless you like miles of narrow, curvy, no shoulders.
In Branson I recommend the COE Park at Indian Point or Table Rock Lake State Park. Both are spacious, beautiful, water views, inexpensive. Reserve early!
Send me a note off-group and I can give you some detailed drive options.

In Arkansas: Hot Springs (lots to see and do there)we like Lake Catherine State Park; Petit Jean Mountain State Park (NW of Little Rock); Mount Magazine (highest pt in AR); Crater of Diamonds State Park (dig for diamonds!); Blanchard Springs Cavern; Fort Smith (lots of history there); Eureka Springs (beautiful).
In Missouri: Fantastic Caverns (N of Springfield); Lake of the Ozarks. to name a few. In East Missouri (SW of St Louis) we like Sam A Baker State Park.
Enjoy!

If you decide to drive from Branson to Hot Springs, Arkansas do not take Route 7. Great scenic route for a Harley or Corvette. Not so great for a Motor-home. Lot's of reverse bank curves, and at least one bridge that only allows one lane at a time.
Spent one month last year in Little Rock getting slide gears and slide motor locks fixed after attempting to drive Route 7. About half way to Hot Springs, DW and car sick dog wisely ordered me to swing east to Hwy 65; a much better road. Found out the hard way that lateral Gs are not our coaches forte.

This is a lucky morning indeed what with the black water discussion bringing lots of laughs to us and now this! I'm glad to know to avoid Route 7, but more than that, I'm grateful and thrilled to have learned the phrase, "Lateral Gs!" So that's the word for we experience when the coach is turned too fast! We had that happen yesterday and a few things which never seem to move in the coach found themselves on the floor! Thank you! Mary06 Inspire 51784
