Service/Maintenance Manuals

Yahoo Message Number: 69503
I am looking for where I can obtain a copy of the Cummins Maintenance Manual for my ISL 425 engine. I would prefer to do as much work as I can on it, yet finding the Service Manual has been the issue. The same thing goes for my 8000 KW Onan Diesel.

Thanks Roger, but all that I have found so far is an electronic subscription which costs $1200 per year.  Sort of out of my range, what with not being in the business.  A paper copy is what I am looking for, but Kevin Waite (former tech) is looking to see what he may be able to come up with.  I can’t ever thank Kevin enough as he is always right on the ball trying to help us out when it comes to parts or fixin’ our rigs.

I subscribed to Cummins' on line service manuals a few years ago and I paid around $50 per year. I only paid one year and it seemed that the subscription lasted about three years. I still have limited access and can view their parts manual and owners manual. I subscribed at www.quickserve.cummins.com

Have you emailed CAT?

Your engine should be a C-9. In 2006 that was rated at 400hp.

Thanks Larry,  but it would seem that the price has increased.  $1200 per year is what that site has on display now.  I could afford $50 per year for total access to service/overhaul and parts.  The Owner’s Manual is free at that site.

Wow! Talk about inflation! That price is way out of line IMO

Jim

I just went to the quickserve website and noticed that for registering an UNLIMITED number of engine serial numbers, you get the Electronic Service Manuals, Parts Catalogs and Wiring Diagrams for $1200 per year. But for registering only 5 engine serial numbers, it cost $100 per year. I guess it doubled in price from a few years ago, but $100 sounds a whole lot better than $1200.

Jan,

A manual tittled " Operation and Maintenance Manual " was in our coach when we bought it used. The manual was published by Caterpillar for the C9 and has the following numbers and date on the front cover: SEBU7293-03, September 2003. If Cat can't provide, I can have copy made and sent to you at cost.

Ken here Retired Cat Tech. Years ago we carried servive Man's in our trucks. Today do to copyright/software issues its turned out to be a tough trip to get Books even for us. I know a few years ago prepping Cats from the factory we got printed user book's and Same on CD'S. All the info for techs today is on line for Cat Dealers today not to the public. Lots of Issues here. Not having a Cat but working for Ringpower in Tampa I know this. I would suggest calling your local Cat dealer and run this by the Truck enginge shop service Mgr.also if he dont help ask to go above him! I know you will get the run around but also not belonging to the Cat Yahoo Group owning a Cummins I cant help you. Working three years ago I was able to help as I had the ability to do so. One thing about this group we can all help each other. Again Info. today is harder to get in print due to many Issues. I had to sign lots of paperwork upon leaving to protect Cat anf Ringpower from giving out Info. Please keep us posted!Sad to say its a different world today!Again as an end user I feel your Pain. I have been able to obtain manuals for chassis, engines, RVs, etc. at reasonable prices on ebay. Give it a try. May not have anything there today, give it a week and try again. 'CAT C9 manual' would be a good search argument.
