Does anyone know if my 2007 CC Tribute 260 has a built in surge protector? If not, I will buy one but don't want to if I already have one.....

Thanks, Jim....

The surge protector I was considering was one of those that you plug into the platform and is not installed in the coach....Later, I realized that getting one that attaches like that was a stupid idea because that type is visible, easily stolen, and more expensive if you don't have to pay someone to install it......You are the only other Tribute owner I have found.....I hope we can stay in touch through the forum to compare notes from time to time....
Are you happy with your coach? I am but I have had a lot of unusual electrical problems and have needed to do a lot of upgrades that I did not anticipate....I've had to replace the tires on mine, the digital echo charger, the transfer switch, the latches on the generator compartment, the water pump, the front door lock, the air antenna, the screws holding the ladder on the rear of the coach, and other things I can't seem to recall....Now I am going to have to replace the slide toppers, the rear view camera and monitor, and have the Norcold recall done (the sleazy seller located near Easley SC told me it had been done but that was only one of many outright lies that I was told to convince me to buy!)....I really cannot believe how much I have learned about this coach and motorhomes in general since I purchased it last October.....Oh, and I believed the seller when he looked me in the eye and told me this coach would get 11 miles per gallon....HA!

David,

There are several Tribute Owners that use this forum. I have owned my Tribute for 2 years and have had numerous things to fix. Motorhomes are very complicated machines with alot of things that will break or not work. Use of this forum and its members have got me thru several issues.

It is common to sign you email and list coach and number.

Forget 11and be happy if its 7 mpg.

My Tribute did not have a surge protector. In installed a protector by Progressive energy. It was easy to install and monitors all that is important. If you want a picture of the installation email me.

You said you are happy with your coach and it occurred to me to ask what you are happy with?
People should talk to you when considering one of these coaches. You have many of the issues they will have.
Replace the Norcold with a residential fridge rather than get a so-called fix. The fixes do not work. I speak from experience.

Sorry about the delay in the response and photos.
I installed a 50 amp EMS-HW50c with remote from Progressive Industries ( cost today is $431.00 plus shipping) . All you have to do in kill all power to coach as well as the inverter, remove cover of transfer switch and disconnect the wire from the reel. Remove reel (temporary) mount surge protector box to rear wall and run wires from box to transfer switch(same guage as going to circuit panel 2' of each color is enough) then remount reel in same holes and connect reel wire to box.
Then connect the remote monitor. My remote is in the rear compartment next to surge. After I plug into campsite I watch the remote and it test both L1 and L2 before passing the power to the transfer switch.

Hi all.... Last March 2013, I bought a 50 AMP surge protector that was hard wired into my coach by a local servicing company. Tributes do not come with a Surge Protector.
The new SP failed today. At first CW tech tried to tell me it was "my bad" for reducing the amps (to 20) when I plugged into a 110 volt outlet using a reducer. I refused to buy that argument and now CW says they will see what Surge Pro wants to do about the failure. Am I wrong? The surge protector (50 Amp) should not have failed because I plugged into a 110 (20Amp) power source, right? Please tell me your opinion....Thanks D Jean

IMO, it should not have failed. 20A, 30A or 50A should all be supported. But, even a 20A service can send a surge. So perhaps it did what it was supposed to do... But more likely it had a SNAFU of some kind:)!

Best of luck,

Get what you can back and go to a Progressive EMS 50AMP . . . an excellent product with top customer service. You can install it yourself.

I've had mine now for 5 years . . . flawless.

Lee's advice is Flawless, and more polite than mine.

I would have suggested two mistakes:

Buying the Surge Guard (I made that one too)

Buying from CW. (haven't made that one in years)

We did it all the time a rally's in Eugene by CC. And run on 30 amps at home while loading and charging batteries.
