Direct/Dish Receiver question

Yahoo Message Number: 70329
When we purchased our 2006 Intrigue (February), the direct tv receiver was already in the stereo cabinet; Would it be best to keep the unit and transfer service or sign up for new service and get a new receiver?

New service requires a new receiver if you are changing companies. You might even need a new positioner, too. TWI 2004 intrigue 11731

When we purchased our '06 Intrigue in 2007, it also had DirecTV receivers installed. Also had the in-motion satellite dish. After a trip to Alaska where we had to rely on cable (tricky in some areas) or the roof top antenna we switched to a Moto-Stat dish (not in motion) and Dish. We have HD for life with Dish and have excellent reception on both coasts.

You should be able to activate the unit as long as it does not have a balance due from the previous owner. DirecTV attaches the financial responsibility to the serial number of the receiver.

Just call DirecTV with the numbers off of the receiver.
