Lubricant Question, Amsoil

Yahoo Message Number: 70714
I need to change the lubricant in my front hubs, always used regular gear lube. Been looking at synthetics, read a report comparing oils, Amsoil came out on top. Anyone have experience with Amsoil. Guy next to me is an rep and uses it for everything including Transynd. First things first, just had my Transynd changed and a regular oil change.

I used Amsoil in my differential and put some in my front wheel bearings. Synthetic is always much better IMO.

Joe, highly recommend you pull the hubs, take out bearing, races, seals, fully inspect or replace if damaged. Get all your old oil out. It is not a good idea to mix earth oil with synthetic, AMSOIL is great product.

Amsoil says you can mix there oil with regular oil. It will dilute the Amsoil properties and one will not get the full benefit of the synthetic, but no other problem. I would not pull the wheel for that. One persons opinion.

I consider it akin to mixing Transynd with Dexon 3, takes 2 changes to get full benefits of the synthetic.
