I did go the Road King route, and very pleased with the results.
However, I agree that the third (SP3) generation of adjustable is supposed to be quite a bit different then the frist (SP1) that came stock on our 04 Allure.
When we bought our coach about this time last year, we set the road height to the higher end of the range, and the SP1's on the front to the firmest setting. It did improve the ride quite a bit from when we first picked it up.
Still was not what I was looking for in handling, and went the FSD investigation route too. Koni was very good to talk with, and as I understand it, the SP3's are properly sized for these bigger rigs now. (The SP1's were undersize from the start, and Koni cautioned CC to not use them. The SP2's on setting 5, were OK, but still a bit taxed at times.)
I went the Road King route, due to some help on the replacement costs from the seller of the rig, and because we felt this would be a 10+ year coach for us. The higher costs, spread over those years of usage.
Look forward to real world user's perceptions of the SP3's. On the heavier 40'+ coaches, I would set them at 3, and maybe 4, depending on how 'control' of a ride you like.
